Hey guys, first time posting here. I bought a 98 Custom with an expansion chamber and the RT installed. I got it for like $20 because the guy said it was leaking air. I took it apart and the leak is coming from the vertical adapter (the part of the E.C. that screws into the valve). I seems like the leak is coming from a little hole that is on the bottom of the adapter threads. Looks like that hole is there for a reason too, so I'm not sure why it's leaking... Any help would be awesome!! Thanks guys!!

I had a similiar problem with my A5. try checking all your O-rings.  My tank was leaking once and i just replaced the O-ring on the tank and it stopped.  BTW dont buy used paintball equipment unless you test it first. especially if someone says its leaking air.

Its not that i think stuipidity should be punishable by death, i just think we should take the warning labels off of things and let the problem handle itself.

Well he told me it was leaking before I bought it. Seems like a 98C with an expansion chamber and the RT installed for $20 was quite a smokin' deal? There is no o-ring for the adapter, but that isn't where the leak is. The air is coming out through the little hole on the bottom of the adapter threads. I have no idea why. Confused  I was hoping someone else has the expansion chamber installed on their 98 custom??

Is there an owners guide that comes with it? if so take it apart and look through the owners manual.  Make sure everyhitng is in place and is in the right condition.

It is a pretty good deal; the adapters themselves used to cost more than that.

There is no o-ring for the adapter,

The expansion chamber should have an o-ring.  A normal tank o-ring should fit.

but that isn't where the leak is. The air is coming out through the little hole on the bottom of the adapter threads.

The little round hole is (if it is perfectly round) the vent hold to allow remaining pressure to vent without damaging an o-ring if a tank is attached directly to the adapter.

I have no idea why.

Because there is no o-ring on the expansion chamber.

Confused  I was hoping someone else has the expansion chamber installed on their 98 custom??

I apologize, I should have posted pics before since I think I am confusing you guys with my probably incorrect terms. The area that is leaking is the adapter by the "T" in "TIPPMANN" in the instructions in the pic. There is not supposed to be an o-ring there according to the instructions. There is a small hole on the bottom that just constantly pumps air out. I hope that makes more sense. Thanks for your help guys!!

The pic helps immensely.  There is not supposed to be a hole at that location.  (At least there isn't one on the adapter I put in years ago.)  If you Google "Tippmann 98 vertical adapter" you should find them available for prices varying from 15 to 45 dollars.  The good news is if you buy a cheap replacement and put it in yourself, you still got a good deal on the marker.
