FORUM ASSEMBLE!!!!

So I'm writing a best man speech and I'm currently writing a joke that alludes to the old wives' tale that thinking about baseball will help you last longer in bed. There is only one problem with this. I know next to nothing about baseball trivia.

So what I need is about 5 facts about baseball, either current or historical, and then maybe a quick comment about each of them.

I'm still writing the joke so it's pretty flexible at this point.

this is a little rusty and based on something i heard this weekend, but there was a civil war general (McLellan(sp)) if i'm not mistaken that loved baseball and may have played a few games in between battles.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dock_Ellis#June_12.2C_1970_no-hitter - Dock Ellis pitched a no hitter on LSD.

It's considered bad luck for anyone to talk about a no-hitter while it is in progress.

A joke should probably be made about balking.

A balk is essentially when the pitcher does anything to trick a batter or runner on first into flinch swinging/running. Once you line up one way and begin the pitching procedure, you can't not pitch or do the opposite.

Also, only two teams have never been to a World Series: DC and Seattle.

All the tapping and nonsense they do in the batter's box is superstition. It doesn't do anything.

Most players, when walking on and off the field, won't step on the foul lines.

David Ortiz is known as Big Papi.

Also, www.Baseball-Reference.com has about every statistic ever compiled about baseball.

With so many baseball stars having used steroids, you may find some lulz in bringing the joke around to performance enhancing drugs.
