Well, I finally got a new smart phone. It has been about two years since I have had one, and boy oh boy gotta love technology.

I downloaded an app that has all the hazmat markings for trucks. I hear everyone talk about picking up the book, but seeing the app was free, I was contempt.

I picked up a HTC MyTouch. But the only problem I am having is trying to post on this forum. Any suggestions?

I love my Droid X. I've owned the original iPhone, the Nexus 1, the G2, and now the Droid X. Android is the way to go.

It's amazing to think only 5 years ago the "in" phone was the RAZR.

I can post fine on my blackberry (doing so now) I hit the captcha code first try!!! Did you hear that michigan is now hacking smart phones to check up on people they pull over or 'suspect' of a crime... No court order or conviction needed. And the new I phone tracks your every move and you can't turn it off. Good old progressives, good intentions I'm sure.

I can log in all that that jazz. But I can't enter the field to make a post. I tap in the field, it recognizes it, but does not bring up my keyboard. Sad panda.

I'm getting a new phone at the end of the year. I'll probably be switching company allegiances.

I've liked Blackberry for a long time now, and I've been using them for the past five years now, but their selections are getting a bit stale, as is their OS. And that's me saying that, the guy who generally hates multimedia bells and whistles with phones. I've just grown to like the concept of smart phone apps, which is another area Blackberry is woefully under-developed.

I don't really know which company I'll be switching to, but it probably won't be Blackberry unless they release something special between now and November. The only one I'd consider now is the flip-version of the curve, and that's only because I hate screen scratches.

As not for this to be a complete threadjack, Impulse, how do you like the Andriod OS?

I'll probably pick up an LG Optimus V around the beginning of June.  It will be my first smart phone (I don't count my blackberry pearl as a smart phone).  I was going to get one a couple of months ago, but they went out of stock and now they raised the price an additional $50.

You weren't talking about politics or the weather, so I don't consider it an hijack.

I like the OS more than my old blackberry, as in easier to navigate.

But I'm not liking so much how tethered you are, with gmail. Google is constantly wanting you to sync this or that. I personally don't feel comfortable putting all of my personal information and contacts into one group. And trying to be independent from google is possible, but they do not make it easy.

Oh that would be lovely for me.

I have all my work and school e-mail accounts already synced into my G-mail account. And my iCal and contacts from my laptop are synced with my Google Calendar. Which, in turn, sends me updates to my G-mail.

The downside of course is that most of the HTC phones are touch screens.

And I. Hate. Touch. Screens.

I hate finger prints on things. I cannot stand it. It'll make me itchy in my soul.

It didn't take long for me to get use to the touch screen. But it is a deal break for some.

I have historically hated touchscreen phones, but almost all the good ones are anymore, so I decided to get over it.

I am still happy with my Windows Phone. They sell the Quantum, with a full slide out keyboard, but I have a friend who has the original Droid with the slide out keyboard, and he hardly ever uses it. So, I got the Focus, just a solid phone, like the iphone or so many other smart phones.

I hate screen scratches too... One of my pet peeves. I use the plastic screen protectors and change them when they get scratched. They are awesome even on touch screen stuff as they are easy to change and you can buy them on ebay for only a few bucks.

I tried those for a while, but with the Blackberry Curve screens having a slight curve to them, it's hard to make them not peel up in the corners and get dust under.

I don't mind the operation of the touch screens. As a matter of fact I think the OS and interaction of touch screens tend to be way easier to navigate and far more intuitive. Even the typing is fine when you get used to it.

I just cannot handle scratches and smudges.

By the way, the phone that came out recently that I absolutely love is the Sidekick 4G. It has the Andriod OS base and is not touch screen, to avoid my obsessiveness. I just don't know if I want to switch to T-Mobile for it.

Yeah, a screen protector is a must for a touchscreen device, I think.

I bought a 5 pack on Amazon for my phone. Like FE said, when they get ugly, you peel em off and throw em away and put a new one on.

I love my BlackBerry Curve 9300. No touch screen, 3G internet with wifi. It basically does everything that I want it to do which is phone calls, txt, internet, facebook, weather, and youtube. Anything else for me would be a waste because I would never use it. I like the keyboard on it and I got a screen protector and a good rubber case that is supposed to protect the phone from drops of up to 4 feet. Its a nice little phone now that I got BB 6 OS.

Yeah, because police forces are notoriously progressive. Remove head from sphincter, give it a shake.

I've had the Evo 4G since it came out, and I honestly still can't stand the thing. I can't stand the touch screen keyboard (I was promised by everyone that owns one that I would get used to it), it lags up quite a bit and I have minimal apps on it, and just a few other glitches here and there. Also, horrible signal at work, and the battery drains quickly trying to find satellites. It is a sharp looking phone though. Honestly I'd love to go back to a regular flip-phone or what have you, but I'm attached to being able to google all the random things that pop up into my head, no matter where I happen to be.

I loved my blackberry and I wouldn't mind switching back really, they are more of a business-oriented platform, emails and scheduling and such.

I dont know how people always scratch the screen on their smart phones.  Ive owned three touch screen phones and I havent put a single scratch into the screen.

i like my iphone4, but it was my first smart phone and i'm not a huge phone geek.  It calls people, texts people, and lets me play angry birds.

I hate the iPhone. My 3GS drowned and I'm forced to use the 1Gen iPhone (no 3G). I'm just waiting for ATT to come out with its first LTE phones (supposed to be early fall-ish) since I hear HSPA+ is the same as 3G but different name.

My one friend the 4.3" Verizon Android phone. Forget what it's called.

I honestly find it too big. The screen is just hard to hold and type with two hands.

It doesn't sound like much, but I think the 4" screen on my Focus is about the perfect size.

I've had the Moto Droid the day it came out November '09.  Great phone, but it is now long in the tooth.  Just like and old PC, with age and apps, it slows down and lags.  I've been looking forward to the release of the Droid Bionic, but there are too many rumors about it being pushed back, cancelled or re-engineered.  It is supposed to be a dual-core LTE phone.  But LTE is still a ways off from my area anytime soon.  Verizon is currently offering unlimited LTE at the same price as their 3G service.  It is only a matter of time when they change their pricing structure as their LTE covers more and more ground.
