Lately (today on drudgereport) there have been a large increase in violent attacks at fast food establishments.
Why does it seem our society is getting even more violent and aggressive towards people.
Is it the food at McDonalds and Burger King?
Is it the lack of morals and character?
Is it just normal behavior and we "see" it more because of the amount of video phones now around?
discuss.

Bad parenting.
Included in that list are not being allowed to smack children when they misbehave.

I blame the fact that we're overrun with uncivilized, over-entitled idiots.

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?defid=862606&term=fattitude - F attitude... 'nough said. Fatties and land whales are barely human as is. It's also why universal health care shouldn't apply to the obese. That being said, I also blame Obama.

And it's going to get exponentially worse when our generation comes in to power.

Combination of a more aggressive youth culture, particularly in poor areas, and the fact that everyone with a cellphone has a video camera and it inevitably gets recorded.
A fast food joint late at night is also a magnet for drunk people. You quickly can get a powderkeg.

I blame rap music. Seriously. It gives people delusions of grandeur. Then, instead of letting something go like a normal person would, they think they have to protect their grandiose self-image through physical contest, often in the form of slapping and chair throwing.

Would it change anything if the "woman" was actually a white man cross dresser?... Who was in the womans rest room.
That was the rumor earlier today, and now that is in print (smoking gun). Along with the jewel who video'd the entire thing while doing nothing but laugh and tell the criminals to "hurry and leave before the cops come".
That video was really disturbing in so many ways.

I think the increase of cheap recording devices has more to do with it than anything. I worked in fast food, as many of you remember, about seven years ago (Holy good Lord) and tons of insane things happened.
Hell, I made threads about most of them (The fat kid, the meth parents, the clowns, etc.). But I didn't have any way to record them at the time, so nobody really found out about them except you guys.

No, it makes no difference. Aggravated assault is aggravated assault. I don't care what provoked it. There are degrees of physical force that may be appropriate in some situations. This is well in excess of any reasonable conception thereof.

It changes it only because at least now there's a motive. Before I was legitimately baffled.
But as everyone has said, entitlement, hoodlums, and so on. They deserve what they get.

I think it's like the scene in Braveheart where everybody's got pikes and he's just yelling 'Holllld!'

Agreed. This is observed in many things, even last years earthquakes. There was no more frequency than normal, but people thought the world was ending because there were more images from more locations than ever before.

Fast-food places are just weirdo magnets. It's cheap, high-calorie crap and they're open all sorts of odd hours. I worked fast-food in high school, and once had a guy burst out of the bathroom in a banana hammock and basically do Chris Pontius's "Party Boy" sketch to the music in the lobby, then leave. Mind you, this was on I-90 with no exit for 15 miles in either direction, and he left his clothes. I'm hoping he left his wallet in the car.

I'll share one of my favorite McDonald's stories now.
So, I'm working my normal summer shift while in high school, which was 5 p.m. until about 2:30 a.m. or 3 a.m. depending on when the breakfast shift decided to show up. I would say at the time it was about 11:45 p.m. on a slower night, so we were getting a car about once every eight or nine minutes or so.
I'm working the kitchen as I always did, not generally liking the customers, and my friend Greg was working the drive-thru. I was sitting on the counter, as the lobby was closed, talking to Greg.
A guy gets to the ordering menu, orders something we already had made (The only reason I remember this is because I didn't go back to the kitchen to cook what he had ordered. Probably a double cheeseburger), and pulls up to the window.
The guy silently hands Greg a $20 bill and drives off.
Didn't wait for change. Didn't get his food. Just drove off.
Greg turns around confused. I look at him confused.
We ask our manager, who at the time along with another employee was selling a certian illegal plant out of the drive-thru window at night, if the guy was one of her customers or something.
Nope, she didn't have any customers coming by that evening, and didn't recognize the description of the guy.
We waited to see if he came back wanting change or food, but nothing. That was the end of it. He just gave us $20 and drove off into the night, never to be seen again.
Honestly, out of all the strange crazy things that happened when I worked at McDonald's, that was the strangest.
We ordered pizza with the $20, by the way.
