Hi guys! ,,, this is my first topic, I would like some help from you!
I have a 98 Custom, a year playing woods, not as often I would like, maybe 1 play per month, no many people are really into paintball here in Costa Rica Cry

so I would like to get an R/T for my tippy but checking several, forums, and videos I donīt know for sure if my marker are ready for that upgrade... for example on youtube thereīs a tippmann video explaining how to install the R/T but for a 98C "Platinum Series" and that marker has 2 air intakes on the right side...

Well, here are 2 pics of my tippy, could you guys can tell if I can install the R/T??

I see a black plastic round thing above the 2 screws of the power tube, so I donīt know if I need to take the plastic black thing off !!?? .... and if that so, how can I take it off?? I affraid to broke the powertube or something Confused

Help please!

PD. sorry about my bad english

I am really not sure which power tube I am looking at from the picture, but here's what I can offer.
  • If that little protrusion is topped by a screw all you have to do is remove the screw and screw the fitting for the R/T in its place
    • I think that might be a small slotted screw, but the slot size doesn't seem right
    • It is possible that someone lost the original screw and replaced it with a different one; in which case the threads are probably stripped/damaged and you would need a new power tube for the R/T even if this was the right power tube
  • It that is just a plastic protrusion, you will definitely need to replace the power tube to install an R/T
    • The older 98 style markers came with the opening in the right body half for the R/T but the power tube did not have the corresponding fitting/opening . . . it just had a plastic know that blocked the opening in the body half instead
  • The reason you only have one opening in the body instead of two is that you have an older body style
    • The newer ones have points to attach separate fittings for the Cyclone Feed and the R/T while the older bodies had a single attachment point and a "T" fitting was used if both the Cyclone and R/T were installed
Edit:  The more I look at that picture, the more I think you probably have an after-market power tube (the color seems lighter than the stock ones) that is equipped for R/T installation with a non-standard screw blocking the end of it.  You'd really need to clean the protrusion/screw and area around it for me to be sure.

Thnx Mack! I appreciated your quick reply!

well, today I took off the 2 valve screws, and looked closely at that "black plastic thing"  and took some pics at the power tube and the plastic thing... your are right man!, itīs just a plastic protrusion... unfortunately I need a new power tube with the air fitting for the R/T....   and another question, excuse me my ignorance...but, I only need the Power Tube itself? ...I donīt need anything else right? like a new Valve or something??

Thnx again m8!!

Here are the pics!

You will need the R/T kit and a new power tube.   The power tube used to come with the R/T kit but I don't think it still does.  (Because the newer 98-style markers come with the necessary power tube.)  If you can't find an older R/T kit with the power tube you can always call Tippmann; they will take care of you.
