1) Seeing as how it was a ground op by special forces, I have good money on a helmet cam was present and recording. And he capitalized the hell out of it. He stopped just short of accepting full credit. Not that I blame him-after that whole birther crapfest, I'd have someone Photoshop "killed Osama" into my birth certificate. I can't help but feel weird about all the rejoicing. The images on TV, with the laughing and cheering from the you g and old holding up American flags seemed eerily similar to the images we see from the extremists when Americans are killed. Odd that the nuke story surfaced around the time that the Osama would have been killed. Propaganda and fear mongering on the part of terrorists IMO. They were probably just hoping the US would be too afraid to release the story.
I find it even more disconcerting that the people celebrating on TV are too young to even really remember 9/11. Seriously, letting your kids out at night to celebrate death is just bothersome. -------------

The kids I was seeing are probably 13-16. So at best they may have been 6 or 7-? I'm sure they remember to the degree a kid remembers an event like that, but the street displays just lacked class in my opinion. -------------

We have known exactly where Bin Laden has been for years..... The question is what really happened. 3 scenarios come to mind. 1. His kidneys finally failed. So we put a bullet in his head and said "Hey we got him" 2. Obama was worried about re-election, so he pulled the ace out of his sleeve. 3. Something has been brewing. With FEMA ordering 1 billion dollars in food. They thought hey what a good time to kill Osama, get public support on our side. Tell the public the terror threat will be through the roof, so we need to up security. This will give them the leverage to pass Patriot Act Version 2. To think we finally found him, and killed him. I don't see this as entirely beneficial for Obama.
He's actually going to deal with an even bigger issue with the American public-there's going to more pressure than ever for America to start pulling out of her conflicts in the Middle East. A long as Osama was alive people tended just accept that we'd be there until he was caught. I think that after the celebrating is over, people are going to take a serious look at the cost and effectiveness of our continued operations in the middle east. -------------

Forgive me if Bin Laden's death hits a bit close to home and brings a some closure, and I'm forced to maybe pay a bit more attention to what it cost. Things I think about while at work when not actually doing work: For people who might actually know such a thing, was the whole dumping him off in the ocean thing to stave off any sort of revenge attack from Al Qaeda trying to recover his body? I've heard mentions of some silly "Muslims have to be buried so it was for insult purposes," thing, but I don't think that was something we'd care about. I figured it has more to do with preventing grave robbing at minimum, attacks at most. |

Bin Laden didn't just get killed, his physical being has been forever removed from existence. It sounds as brutal and methodical as a mob hit, this was cold. Some very talented and dedicated people in our intelligence services, law enforcement, and military worked for years for the sole purpose of taking this guy down, and they have done a great job. This was taken extremely seriously, happened with amazing secrecy, and sounds like it left nothing to chance. It's a massive psychological victory even if it doesn't effect our national security tangibly. Terrorism is designed as a psychological weapon anyways, enjoying this event as much as we seem to be as a nation is the closest think to a "victory" as we can hope to get out of this war. The age of the people who were in the streets shouldn't be surprising. I'm 24, Osama bin Laden declared war on this country half a lifetime ago for me, it's hard to remember a time in American culture when Bin Laden wasn't the ultimate boogyman. A psychopathic, privileged, delusional, religious zealot, a bad poet, a man actually who used his wealth and construction company to wage war on the most powerful nation on earth, and had thousands of innocents murdered on live world-wide television, has finally had soldiers come in the middle of the night to his house and blow his brains out. This is kind of a big deal, and welcome news.... for once. |

I wouldnt get too hung up on the term "mansion"  I did see something in an earlier article, but can't find it now to the effect that they had been scoping this place out for a couple of years. They suspected a terrorist lived there, but couldn't figure out who it was.
