CDC Warns Public to Prepare for 'Zombie Apocalypse'

Are you prepared for the impending http://www.foxnews.com/health/2011/05/18/cdc-warns-public-prepare-zombie-apocalypse/# - That's the question posed by the Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention in a Monday blog posting gruesomely titled, "Preparedness 101: Zombie Apocalypse." And while it's no joke, CDC officials say it's all about emergency preparation.

"There are all kinds of emergencies out there that we can prepare for," the posting reads. "Take a zombie apocalypse for example. That's right, I said z-o-m-b-i-e a-p-o-c-a-l-y-p-s-e. You may laugh now, but when it happens you'll be happy you read this, and hey, maybe you'll even learn a thing or two about how to prepare for a real emergency."

The post, written by Assistant Surgeon General Ali Khan, instructs readers how to prepare for "flesh-eating zombies" much like how they appeared in http://www.foxnews.com/topics/entertainment/movies/hollywood.htm#r_src=ramp - Hollywood hits like "Night of the Living Dead" and http://www.foxnews.com/topics/entertainment/video-games/video-games.htm#r_src=ramp - video games like http://www.foxnews.com/topics/entertainment/video-games/resident-evil.htm#r_src=ramp - Resident Evil . Perhaps surprisingly, the same steps you'd take in preparation for an onslaught of ravenous monsters are similar to those suggested in advance of a hurricane or pandemic.

"First of all, you should have an http://www.foxnews.com/health/2011/05/18/cdc-warns-public-prepare-zombie-apocalypse/# -

Other items to be stashed in such a kit include medications, duct tape, a http://www.foxnews.com/health/2011/05/18/cdc-warns-public-prepare-zombie-apocalypse/# - "Once you've made your emergency kit, you should sit down with your family and come up with an emergency plan," the posting continues. "This includes where you would go and who you would call if zombies started appearing outside your doorstep. You can also implement this plan if there is a flood, earthquake or other emergency."

The idea behind the campaign stemmed from concerns of radiation fears following the earthquake and tsunami that rocked http://www.foxnews.com/topics/japan.htm#r_src=ramp - Japan in March. http://www.foxnews.com/health/2011/05/18/cdc-warns-public-prepare-zombie-apocalypse/# - "It's kind of a tongue-in-cheek campaign," Daigle said Wednesday. "We were talking about http://www.foxnews.com/health/2011/05/18/cdc-warns-public-prepare-zombie-apocalypse/# -

While metrics for the post are not yet available, Daigle said it has become the most popular CDC blog entry in just two days.

"People are so tuned into zombies," he said. "People are really dialed in on zombies. The idea is we're reaching an audience or a segment we'd never reach with typical messages."

It fails to mention a silenced Ruger 10/22, or Mini 14, so therefore, it isnt a good zombie plan.

Threat?  More of an inevitability, really.

The only open question (other when "When?") is "What KIND of zombie apocalypse?"

Different kinds of ZAs require different kinds of preparation.

I feel like I'll be one of the first to become a zombie because I work in a hospital lab and play with blood all day long.  So, if you guys do see a zombie pcf, please try to keep me as a pet zombie.  I'll be nice, I promise.

Thus the amazing part about tapping into the booming Internet culture. You don't need to pay for costly airtime. Dorks will spread the thing for you.

The only way this could have been better was the inclusion of bacon. Or corgis.

Electro-mechanical dependence zombies.  (Also known as "EMZs.")  They are already among us and the apocalypse will occur when they reach critical mass within the nation's infrastructure.  At that point chaos will erupt and communications and transport systems will collapse.

These zombies can be recognized now as those people who text and drive.  It is obvious from their driving that there generally is no higher brain function remaining and once they become a significant percentage of the "on-road" population mass casualties are the inevitable result.  The increased use of networked communications devices in response to the mass accidents will then overwhelm our communications capabilities and cause those to collapse as well.  After that the maddened (due to loss of communications capabilities) EMZs will turn on the rest of the populace.  The screams of their victims will drown out the EMZs constant refrain of "Brains . . . must have a phone with brains" as they search for a smart-phone to resume communications with.
