I really hope we take it, the footage from last time is just embarassing. For some reason I don't see it happening this time if we lost, people are just so disappointed they have just been going straight home early when a game doesnt go our way. Either way, the 94 riots are just shameful:

real sad to see raymond out with a fractured vertebrae, he has some great speed.  Hopefully he's healed up for training camp.

Yeah I'm worried about him. I don't understand for the life of me why they lifted him up and skated him off the ice with a spinal injury. That was crazy. Also Boston was chanting something about their team as he gets taken off the ice? Come on, have some class and at least clap for the guy.

If the real Vancouver Canucks actually show up for the game, and sits Luongo, they have a great chance. Other wise get 20 people from the stands with jerseys, dress em, and play em, almost the same.

And this 'home ice' phenom is totally unexplainable, same 200X85 dimensions, one rink we get low scoring, other mass scoring.

And someone wake up the Sedin's please..............

Home ice advantage gives the home team the ability to make the last line change. So if you're the home team, you have the advantage of matching your lines to whoever they put on the ice. That alone is a huge deal, you almost always get to have the matchup you want while the away team is continually pitted against the best matchup against them.
Plus, crowd momentum is influential, the amount of energy at those games is unreal, blowing the olympics out of the water.

Plus, yes rink dimensions are the same, but otherwise arenas are riddled with differences. The arena in Boston is warmer at ice level, making the ice softer/ stickier than elsewhere. Boards will all have different bounce to them depending on location and humidity, and there is no real standard for mounting the glass. You'll see some stadiums where the seams around the blue line will actually chip the puck in towards center ice instead of continuing around the boards.

All small differences, but it would be like trying to play pool where the felt and bumpers were changed from what you always played. It's the same game, but it feels different and you have to adjust.

Choopie, I still play and have played the game, know the quirks, my comment is why Vancouver seems to choke in Boston during the playoffs, almost like they are not even there at times.
Boston boards are 'dead' and yes the June ice in Boston is sloppy, and bouncing pucks abound after about 5 min in a period. And yes Boston had 'blue boards' that tend to skip board runners out towards center.

These guys are pros, study the videos, adapt, you can't play Vancouver at Boston and vice versa.
Boston plays 'goon' games at home, Vancouver has been playing lake hockey in Boston, officiating has been marginal at times, and the injuries on both sides has really shown the problems developing in the game.

Vancouver scored big during regular season, now they have seemed to forgot how, and yes the Sedin's need to wake up and play the game.

Well Boston did it, and as usual after goal 1 the Canucks went home. Tim Thomas is phenominal, deserves MVP. So wait till next year, head up to the Wild for our NHL games, and we got the Lincoln Stars and Omaha Lancers of the USHL, and the UNO Mavericks tp keep us busy.

Rumor is Lincoln/Omaha is in the running for a AHL Team in 14, hope so.

Well, people in Vancouver know how to riot. Get any sweet pics choop?

Also, to those of you saying that Boston is an American team... aren't 16 of the players from Canada? Plus like 4 more are from Europe or something like that?

Classy.

Yeah Boston has more Canadian players than the Canucks, we have a lot of scandinavians. And no pics, I left as soon as we lost, I didn't want anything to do with these idiots.

Boston is still in the geographical U.S., however. And that is cause for some kind of national celebration.

Like glitter graphics.

I'm chalking those up as karmatic universal correction for every snooty white Canadian who looks down their nose at Los Angeles every time they've had issues after a sports win. Or loss. Or anything with LA, really.

Always shocking to see the way the mob will attack the business man who is just trying to defend his property by stopping the looting.

(if you haven't seen the video... find it).

Good thing he wasn't able to be armed to protect himself from the criminals/mob members.

Oh, ok. That makes sense. I was trying to wrap my head around a country somehow losing an entire Olympics, and trying to figure out how that would happen. I couldn't decide if it would be getting bronze in everything, or simply not placing in anything.

Weirdly, nothing like this. We expect to win Hockey gold in the Olympics and forget rather quickly when we don't since we know we're be back at it in 4 years. Plus, theres only about 5 teams in the olympics that are serious contenders.

The Stanley Cup is NOT expected in Vancouver, and the people that rioted last night went downtown with rioting as their goal. People were using 1994 as an excuse to do it again this year.

They don't have looters in Canada. Everyone is friendly and polite and calm-mannered.

Yeah there were a few stabbings, and a TON of fighting by the looks of it. People were getting mobbed/ knocked out and kicked for trying to defend stores, etc. It's part of why I left immediately, people are idiots and would fight you.

Someone on FARK went on a silly rant about how infiltrators from Seattle were responsible for the riots, not the calm, well-mannered Canadians.

Now the meme of "Seattle infiltrators" is getting around. I hope it catches on.

Yeah, got a scholarship to the University of Calgary and was aiming for the olympics for water polo (was already on the national u17 team) but that's sort of on haitus right now while they investigate.

Well the school isn't the one pressing charges or anything, I imagine they're more trying to decide what they do with him now. He's a talented athlete, but how much does this influence their actions, etc.

I also think it is funny that there are a few Bruins fans in jerseys scattered about.

Maybe I would stick around to watch people be idiots, but if people are burning cars, I wouldnt want to be wearing black and yellow.
