Ryan Dunn was killed in a car wreck today. There goes my favorite person from Jackass.

I did not include a link when I started this because the news just broke. http://www.cnn.com/2011/SHOWBIZ/celebrity.news.gossip/06/20/jackass.star.dead/index.html - CNN has a little more info now

Looks like he may have been drinking and driving. He flipped his Porsche over a guardrail on a poorly lit road at about 3 a.m. Car caught on fire, apparently Dunn was only identifiable from his chest tattoos.

Despite the crappy way he went out, he was always my favorite of the Jackass crew, if only for the split few seconds when he would point how how moronic something they were doing was.

At midnight he apparently tweeted a photo of him drinking with buddies.

Car gas tanks are very strongly engineered. Cars generally don't simply catch fire. He must have really been going.

He just started a new tv series, Proving Ground. Sucks for that show. It wasn't great anyways.

That was Steve-O, but still.

He was my favorite Jackass star as well. Most of the time he was the smart one, saying "This is a horrible idea, but I'll do it anyway". Also, on Viva-la-bam, he counteracted Bam's skyhigh ego.

Yep. Steve-O was going to do it, but said his dad was too disappointed at him for saying he was going to do it, so Dunn did it instead.

He survived a bunch of stupid things to go out in a car crash, but by the looks of the picture he was doing triple digits and hammered.

Reports say another body was at the scene, but because of the condition of the bodies and car they don't know if Dunn was the driver or passenger.

Thank God no other innocent car was involved.

Too often the drunk walks away unscathed while the innocent suffer.

According to the servers at the bar where he was before the wreck, he only consumed a few beers over several hours before leaving. I've been in that part of W.Chester, the roads are bad, poorly lit, and winding. I think he was just going too damned fast and lost it.

How so? Was there another car involved? Did I say Dunn was drunk? No on both accounts.

He took someone elses life, not just his own, due to his idiocy.

Deserve to die? Not at all.

Look at the pictures of the car though, that didn't happen going the posted speed limit.

You have the poorest choice of words on this forum if you are saying you did not insinuate Dunn was drunk.

Chances are he had alcohol in his system.   Either way, his choice led to his death, and even more sadly, that of his passenger.

That, or that was the unluckiest coffee spill / wasp in face ever.

He's always just vague enough to give himself a way out when he's deemed a tool. At least it was quick, and probably fun up until that last split second. If I were to screw up at work, I'd be horribly injured or dead in less than 2 seconds and hit the ground at 36mph. I'be been spending way too much time in the oncology wing lately to think that crashing a super-car is a bad way to go, despite the mangling.

Quote when he's deemed a tool.

Doesn't take much with some of the people on this forum.

Agreed... except I've seen too many people survive the main impact and die in the ensuing inferno.

The thing that would consistently crack me up every time on Jackass, more than any individual stunt, was that deep, dissatisfied sigh that Dunn would let out right before he realized he was actually going to do the stunt.

Or maybe Dunn was the passenger and the other person was driving?

Except all recent sources are stating he was the driver at the time of the crash.

I've seen a lot of weird things at wrecks. I've yet to see a passenger and driver switch seats after death.

The police have come out and said he was the driver at the time. Do you think they, who also know immensely more about accident reconstruction and investigation than you, are also wrong / jumping to conclusions?

How many fatal car wrecks have you been on?

No matter how decimated the car is, often times you can easily tell front from back, and as such, drivers side from passengers side, and unless the occupants are ejected, chances are where you find them is where they were.

That, and accident reconstructionist are pretty damn good at their job, and unless that area is different from every other one, that road was closed for several hours while they did their investigation, which is why the accident happened early morning, but the photo you posted is clearly after sunrise.   The fire crew, EMS crew, AND police will detail the exact spot they found the bodies in, the exact seat, and several other factors. Fatality wrecks are very meticulously documented and covered.

This is the car while it was still wrapped around the tree. Doesn't look any worse than some wrecks I've worked,

Linus, don't let it bother you.

I've had almost a word for word argument with some aviation folks about a local plane crash, and been told to watch what I speculate about.

I was watching the aircraft on radar when it auger'd in. I have seen many other aircraft do similar/the exact same thing. I'm a qualified accident investigator. But "only the pilot was there and only they know what happened", says the unwashed masses.

Blood doesn't just disappear when a body is burned in a fire.

That, and there's multiple methods to test for alcohol in someones system.
