But he suggested NATO's policies could have prompted the attack, saying,
"NATO is planting terrorism in the hearts of many. This is unfortunate
and sad."

The attacker appears to have been Norwegian. Motivation's gonna take a little while to figure out. Nice to grandstand and use a pile of dead bodies as a soap box for your nuttery, though.

The shooting was at a youth retreat for Arbeiderpartiet (Labor Party), the main center-left political party in Norway. That is also the party of the current prime minister and most of the government. That would tend to indicate a local political motivation. But who knows. With the shooter apparently in hand, we will probably learn more soon.

That's why the title was mass murder, and not terrorist attack.
Although here in the states, they would probably classify it as "domestic terrorism"

If he was anti muslim. Why did he kill a bunch of white Norwegians?
How coincidental that a domestic terrorist attack, from someone who is white, with blonde and blue eyes. Happens within a day of that video being released.
Also this "right wing" feller was a Freemason.

Same reason Mid East terrorists target Muslims in the area - because they view them just as guilty as the declared enemy.

He attacked the Labour party and a youth camp set up by the Labour party, a party which has called for Palestinian statehood, as well as focused domestically on not only preventing discrimination against Muslim immigrants, but also asking the Norwegian people to open up culturally to them.

What was interesting to me was the way MSNBC news online blasted the headline of "right wing Christian extremist" within minutes of the attack being made public. Many other "news" sources did the same, so much so that if you ask anyone today I bet they would say this guy was a right wing Christian...
And yet, he visited prostitutes, and his 1,500 page manifest has stuff like this in it.
and I quote.
"Getting around is necessary, oil is not. Considerable efforts should be made to further develop high-power Lithium-Ion batteries. The goal should be to aim for oil independence. This will not only save the environment; it will completely devastate many Muslim countries economically which will weaken the ongoing Islamic imperialism. (p. 1199)
All 2nd and 3rd world countries (where the average birth rate is above 2,1 [sic]) are to implement 1 child policies until their country is stabilised in regards to financial outlooks and overconsumption, saving their forests etc. This will both solve their poverty problem and result in drastic cuts in global pollution due to the fact that the population (consumer) explosion will be reversed. You cannot have any hope of reducing global pollution unless you focus on reducing the current population explosion in 2nd and 3rd world countries. Any country that does not comply will not receive any incentives (aid, development funding/loans, and trade import/export concessions). This approach can also be used for giving these countries incentives to stop them from cutting down their forests. (p. 1200)
For the last fifty years, the white race has arrogantly refused to obey these eternal laws and it will pay a heavy price unless it comes to realise the futility of continually fighting against Mother nature. King Canute realised it and other human races continue to realise it but whether or not the crack-brained Liberal-Multicultural disciples have the humility to realise their folly of battling with Mother nature is quite another matter.
But be in no doubt whatsoever that Mother nature will demand they pay the heaviest price for their arrogance and she will not care one iota if the entire white race has to pay too. Mother nature knows not pity as even self-righteous Liberal-Multiculturalists will find to their cost, you can be completely assured of that. (p. 399)"
"The situation is similar in Western Europe. In the UK, News International (a company mostly owned by Rupert Murdoch) owns several newspapers (including The Times and The Sun), Sky Television (a major European satellite operator), Star Television (covering Asia) and publishers like Harper Collins.
In 1998, Rupert Murdoch owned 34% of the daily newspapers and 37% of the Sunday newspapers in the UK. Successive UK governments have allowed his empire to grow in return for his media’s support.
53% of UK newspaper and magazine distribution is controlled by just two companies, WH Smith and John Menzies. Cross-media ownership and the fact that a small number of people own so many of our means of obtaining information is a threat as it institutionalises globalism and multiculturalism. (p. 381)"
"All globalist companies will be nationalised (a minimum of 50,1% ownership must be redistributed to EF governments hands (combined) at any given time, for their respective countries). Investors with majority control who refuse this re-nationalisation process will have their respective corporation expelled from the European Federation monetary zone (losing trading concessions). Ensuring state control is the only way to avoid that globalist capitalist political lobby groups continue to negatively influence European policies relation to immigration and multiculturalism. (p. 1200)
I never thought I would actually argue against capitalism but the US model is an extreme variant, almost resembling a pure laissez faire model. 83 percent of all U.S. stocks are now in the hands of 1 percent of the people. 66 percent of the income growth between 2001 and 2007 went to the top 1% of all Americans. (p. 1223)
Is capitalism always a force for freedom? It is easy for “conservatives” to think so, but is it always true? (p. 403) "
"The Judeo-Christian religions played an important and influential role in building the once mighty West but we also discovered that these religions contained a serious flaw that has sewed the seeds of the suicidal demise of the indigenous peoples of Western Europe and our cultures. This flaw was identified by the brilliant German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche who described it as “an inversion of morality” whereby the weak, the poor, the meek, the oppressed and the wretched are virtuous and blessed by God whereas the strong, the wealthy, the noble and the powerful are the immoral and damned by the vengeful almighty Yahweh for eternity. (p. 391)
Should any person have the temerity to criticise any one of these “victim” groups, they will be viciously smeared and deemed guilty of numerous hate-crimes, the new heresy of the Liberal-Multicultural religion. The plain fact that this situation is destroying the west because it flies in the face of Mother nature – a catastrophic mistake only the native Europeans are committing – matters not a jot to these new pious inquisitors. (p. 391)
I have been storing three bottles of Château Kirwan 1979 (French red wine) which I purchased at an auction 10 years ago with the intention of enjoying them at a very special occasion. Considering the fact that my martyrdom operation draws ever closer I decided to bring one to enjoy with my extended family…
It was an absolutely exquisite experience that will not be forgotten. My thought was to save the last flask for my last martyrdom celebration and enjoy it with the two high class model whores I intend to rent prior to the mission. My interpretation of being a “Perfect Knight” does not and should not include celibacy, although some of my KT peers might disagree with me on this point.
I believe that in order to strengthen the resolve, morale and motivation prior to a martyrdom operation, the Justiciar Knight should be encouraged to embrace and take advantage of a significant reward system designed to increase focus and remove any last doubts. A pragmatic approach, which involves acknowledging the primal aspects of man for the purpose of preparing him for a martyrdom operation, should always take precedence over misguided piety, which only increases the chance of jeopardizing the execution of the operation. And I believe the majority of war strategy analysts will agree with me on this. (p. 1434)
Had Charles Martel not been victorious at Poitiers -already, you see, the world had already fallen into the hands of the Jews, so gutless a thing Christianity! -then we should in all probability have been converted to Mohammedanism, that cult which glorifies the heroism and which opens up the seventh Heaven to the bold warrior alone. Then the Germanic races would have conquered the world. Christianity alone prevented them from doing so. [quoting Hitler's Table Talk, by Adolf Hitler] (p. 231)
Today, [Christendom's] pastors are the most fervent pleaders for the rights of Islam. Muslims in Europe are for them a substitute for the disappearing parish members. Separate Christian institutions, whose reason of existence is being questioned, find a new legitimacy in the fact that Islam in its turn is also opening separate schools, charities and even political parties. Islam has become a sister religion regularly praised as a religion of peace. (p. 48)
In the U.S., Christian fundamentalists and Islamic organisations are increasingly creating common platforms to speak out against trends of moral decay (abortion, pornography, etc.). Some of these phenomena of traditionalist alliance-building are quite respectable, but they are nevertheless conducive to Islam negationism. (p. 49)
I’m not going to pretend I’m a very religious person as that would be a lie. (p. 1344)
Myself and many more like me do not necessarily have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and God. We do however believe in Christianity as a cultural, social, identity and moral platform. This makes us Christian. (p. 1307, 3.139)
If you want to fight for the cross and die under the “cross of the martyrs” it’s required that you are a practising Christian, a Christian agnostic or a Christian atheist (cultural Christian). The cultural factors are more important than your personal relationship with God, Jesus or the holy spirit. Even Odinists can fight with us or by our side as brothers in this fight as long as they accept the founding principles of PCCTS, Knights Templar and agree to fight under the cross of the martyrs. The essence of our struggle is to defeat the cultural Marxist/multiculturalist regimes of Western Europe before the we are completely demographically overwhelmed by Muslims. I have studied Norse Mythology and have a lot of respect for the Odinist traditions. I consider myself to be a Christian, but Odinism is still and will always be an important part of my culture and identity. (p. 1360)
As a cultural Christian, I believe Christendom is essential for cultural reasons. After all, Christianity is the ONLY cultural platform that can unite all Europeans, which will be needed in the coming period during the third expulsion of the Muslims. (p. 361)
The European cultural heritage, our norms (moral codes and social structures included), our traditions and our modern political systems are based on Christianity – Protestantism, Catholicism, Orthodox Christianity and the legacy of the European enlightenment (reason is the primary source and legitimacy for authority).
It is not required that you have a personal relationship with God or Jesus in order to fight for our Christian cultural heritage and the European way. In many ways, our modern societies and European secularism is a result of European Christendom and the enlightenment. It is therefore essential to understand the difference between a “Christian fundamentalist theocracy” (everything we do not want) and a secular European society based on our Christian cultural heritage (what we do want). (p. 361)
The PCCTS, Knights Templar [the name of his anti-Muslim school of thought) is therefore not a religious organisation but rather a Christian “culturalist” military order. (p. 361)."

The man broke the two commandments of which Jesus said to obey:
Matthew 22:37 wrote:
Jesus replied: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” |
To that end, I would agree that I don't find him very Christ like, however, you can't ignore the fact that this man calls himself a christian despite his fanatical ravings. To pull wholly from your post:
FreeEnterprise wrote:

In a very non-fundamental sense, he's speaking to a broad swath of christianity. While most of the more fundamentalist christian sects today preach that you must have a one-on-one relationship with Jesus Christ to fall under their specialized definition of "Christian" the reality of the matter is that the plain-Jane secular definition is:
Merriam Webster wrote:
Christian n.
1: one who professes belief in the teachings of Jesus Christ |
And in all reality, that's what it means. To deny otherwise is to argue over semantics in the same manner I could argue that a true gumbo must have file powder to someone that swears it must use okra. In short, it's subjective.
So, news organizations wishing to remain as secular and objective as possible in this country and report the facts the way they are presented. This man calls his own personal brand of craziness "Christian" so they oblige and call him a right wing christian fundamentalist. They give him the reason of the doubt
You call your own personal beliefs "Christian" doctrine FE, as do most Christians out there. I don't deny you that right despite the fact that I believe that you twist the teachings of Christ to fit your own desires. You probably feel that I'm not "Christian" because I don't adhere to your own particular brand of belief (I honestly don't know if I can believe in the resurrection, or even the miracles, the mystical stuff just doesn't work for me, but I DO believe Christ died for our sins as a self-offered sacrifice to our Father, and I DO fully believe in his teachings) but I do believe I am a Christian, and in reality, believe I probably adhere to Christ's teachings a lot more than yourself. But that again is personal perception which we will never agree on, just as this lunatic's perception of what it means to be Christian will make both of us balk despite our own difference in beliefs. To attack to media outlets which choose to use his own words to describe him is simply trying to stuff your head in the sand for your own purpose.

Probably because they found him on the island with guns, surrounded by dead teenagers.
As to whether Breivik is a Christian or not, I have two thoughts:
1. Who cares? His beliefs were his beliefs. The label placed on those beliefs is not important.
2. As Whale points out, being a Christian is much like being a Scotsman. It's all about the definition. And those who actually care about the label, my point 1 notwithstanding, will always find a definition that suits their needs.
FWIW, I think it is misplaced to apply a definition of Christian built around American evangelicanism. That whole belief system simply does not apply in Norway. By that narrow of a definition, I don't believe there are any Christians at all in Norway, or even perhaps anywhere outside of the USA.
