This is "Chromagnum".  I've been working on it casually for about 2 years now.  I don't think it will ever be fully completed.  Thanks for viewing!

I love the chrome. it looks like it runs on steam or something. What kind of paint did you use?

The finish is ALOT of hours wet sanding raw aluminum. It's just bare aluminum.  The pictures don't really do the finish any justice.

I know what you are talking about in time sanding... I took the paint off of one of my 98's and have tryed to get it to shine... did not have much luck...yet...lol.. did not think that you could get that shine out of one! What grit did you use to wet sand with, if you do not mind me asking? By the way It looks AWESOME a lot of hard work there! Hats off to ya. The copper feed looks nice also.

To strip the radical finish Tippmann uses I soaked the body in transmission fluid for a week or so then scraped it off with a plastic drywall knife. start off with like 500 wet sand and work your way to 1200 or so with everything in between.  220 on the real tough spots. It's a bit more detailed and will post later.  Mistakes are easily made and expensive time-wise

I will have to try that some time.... I usually just sand blast mine with glass bead.. instead of the Transmission fluid but that works to...lol

So as far as sanding goes, working from the most coarse to the finest, make sure that you are completely finished with a given grit before you move on to a finer grit.  Having to step back really adds alot of time to completion.  Patients, wet sand paper, water and alot of latex gloves is how I did it.  A box of gloves can be purchased for cheap at harbor Freight.

Waiting until we move to purchase a polishing wheel, but I have a couple of old bodies that I might try this on. Gone the sandpaper route on a couple of Automag bodies and what a PITA. I partially attribute my tennis elbow that I got last year from doing this by hand. Those bodies are stainless though, so a lot tougher.

I like the steam punk theme. Did the RVA peices come in brass or did you fabricate them?

yeah the hand sanding route crushed my hands for a while.  I fab'd the beavertail.

the plans i have for this gun could potentially be somewhat of a mind blow.  i need cyclone air fitting parts to make this thing blow bubbles when i shoot it.  i'd really like someone to beat me to the punch on this one.  it could be years before i get to it

Need to find something to replace the feedneck. The black plastic keeps glaring at me and saying naughty things.

I hear you.  There are aluminum feed necks available which I think requires a feed neck adapter(yuck on the adapter too).  I might plate it with custom copper pieces or wood or something??

I wonder if a hobby shop would have copper leaf? I have also seen copper paints. Might be a cheaper way out. Would be the shiznit to make something out of brass.....

Gonna be difficult to snipe with that thing, you know, with the sun glinting off it so much. If you were really 1337, you'd make a ghillie for it!

I'm trying to blind them!  The 98 is a wall piece.  I really don't shoot it
