I recently bought an a5 off ebay. All the paint on the shell has been removed (inside and out)....I first noticed it was a bit difficult to cock, so I oiled it up really good and it cock and fired like I knewn it should. However, eventually it seemed to wear off and it is now difficult to cock again. Would this be as simple as using some type of lube insteads of oil? Or would it be because it is now rubbing the bare metal without a smooth coat of paint in there? IM asking because I plan on painting the outside of the gun and was just going to leave the inside as is, unless that is the problem....

The paint shouldn't be an issue as the tolerances inside an A-5 aren't so tight as to cause a rubbing issue, especially if the paint is removed as that would actually decrease friction between the moving parts and the marker body. I suggest making sure that there are no broken, or swollen o-rings on any of the moving parts (hammer, front bolt, etc) also make sure that the linkage arm isn't being pinched somehow. Finally, Make sure the ball detent is in the correct way and not reversed as this can cause similar issues.

What did you use for oil?
You should use Hoppes 9 for oiling your Tippmann. Anything like WD40 will wreck it.

See, we used WD40 in our rental markers at Pev's at AG for years and years and never had any problems.
