Just saw the deals on HP Touchpads ($100 for 16GB, which seem to be sold out; $150 for 32GB which, one of which I just bought from PC Richard and Son) and couldn't help myself. But if you want to try out a tablet, there will either be lots of cheap ones floating around soon (running WebOS which may or may not be supported), or you can try one new one right now! | My ol' lady just purchased a Kindle. And managed to pick up all the textbooks we need (For our own classes and for the ones we are teaching) for somewhere around $40. Which was nice, as they were going to be well more than $100 to buy even the used print versions. |

It is a good deal, but I have a feeling WebOS is going to be vaporware soon. Which means a complete lack of applications for it. But it you just surf the interwebs on your couch, it is perfect. |

Just because HP will no longer develop for it doesn't mean that nobody else will. I've got a bunch of friends in the programming world and they're still working on apps for it. A buddy of mine's company just launched two this week. |

They have states that it is the hardware that is being discontinued. WebOS is/ will still be supported by HP and they are in the process of licensing it to other manufacturers. On top of that, there is a project underway to port android for it. |
