It's about that time that I come here and post about how NFL season is coming close to start and with that, fantasy season as well.

CAN'T WAIT to see how this season pans out. Offseason has been insane to say the least and the league looks totally different now in terms of powerhouse teams and the ones that might not get more than 3 wins.

Also, anyone down for a forum league?

I'm probably down for a league, especially if done through ESPN because I'm lazy and already am in leagues there Big smile

Already went through a draft too that I'm doing with my friends... definitely made it interesting trying to take into account not seeing preseason play and weighing out players who are in middle of contract issues.

Also, I quit being a Giants fan after this awful off-season.

Im in a keeper football budget league, you can keep as many people as you can afford as the "wage increases" year by year. Im reshaping completely how i think. I may say screw this season and draft for the future.

Not keeper, and sadly not PPR. If it was PPR I'd be golden.

Well I haven't done ESPN so I have no clue how to set it up, but I'm down to sign up wherever you guys want it.

As for my leagues, my first draft went like this:

QB: Peyton Manning
RB: Arian Foster
RB: Steven Jackson
WR: Mike Williams (TB)
WR: A.J. Green
TE: Tony Gonzalez
W/R: Beanie Wells
K: Rob Bironas
DEF: Packers

BN: Colt McCoy
BN: Roy Helu
BN: Plax
BN: Jacoby Ford
BN: Steve Smith (PHI)
BN: Carolina DEF

Flex league with 6pts for passing TDs.

Whale, you need to trade for a #1 RBs stat. I'd say give up Welker because in non-PPR he's almost worthless.

Updated to include NCAA since I know Whale is big on college football.

Is anyone else down for a league? We need a few more people. I'm looking for at least 8 people.

Traditional, offensive utility player instead of a kicker.

Set up so I never have to miss a bye week at any position, sans injuries.

Don't bother analyzing starters vs. bench, as its not set up.

You wasted a pick with Jay Cutler.

I will probably start Sam Bradford over him, if for my own dislike rather than anything else.  I didn't really pick him up all too early so it wasn't wasted... that badly.

I would drop Cutler all together and get someone else. Maybe Freeman if he's available. Stafford is always risk for injury, and Cutler is not a quality insurance policy.

Okay. So I made it on Yahoo. but I have no clue how to invite people into the league. Right now its a 10 man standard, and draft is on Saturday Sep 3(?) at 7pm. If you guys want PPR, change the draft date, change the site, or w.e, just let me know.

ID and password are in the URL.

EDIT: I changed it to Yahoo. ESPN is being a nazi when it comes to editing the settings after making them. So I changed it so I can change the settings to the majorities liking if need be.

I signed up for the Tippmann League. I hope we get enough people to make it happen.

I'm working on a trade of some low-round picks for a decent middle-upper RB. Everyone is locking down though, so this trade may need to wait until the end of the first week. I think I can get through OK with my WRs and QB.

And I also took a gamble on Cooley getting better before the season, so that may also not pay off. I can always dump him.

I also set the league points (I'm running my league, btw) to be 4 points per passing, 6 points per running TD for QBs. However, I have the 2+ bonus turned on for 50+ yard TD passes, so long bombs or a great WR can even out the points.

Whale. I'd say pick up Tate as an RB. Foster is been injured twice so far since the preseason and his owner might be willing to trade for the handcuff for his #1 pick. If not, and Foster misses sometime early, then at least you get a temporary #2 maybe even #1 RB production.

I'm in a Keeper League.

QB    Matt Shaub (K)
RB    Chris Johnson (K)
RB    Michael Turner
WR   Miles Austin (K)
WR   Marques Colston
TE     Jason Witten (K)
D/ST Green Bay (K)
K       Neil Rackers
P       Donnie Jones
HC    Bears Coach

Bench
QB      Matt Cassel
RB      Fred Jackson
WR     Kenny Britt
TE      Greg Olsen
D/ST  Chiefs
K         Jay Feely
P         Nick Harris
HC      Colts

I took a gamble on keeping Chris Johnson hoping for some resolution before the season starts, but I might have to find another RB and slide Fred Jackson into his slot.  Either that or entertain trades.

Just pick up Javon Ringer as a safety net.

And what players were available for you to keep for your league? I'm only asking since Shaub isn't the strongest QB for fantasy. He's good, but not top tier.

2010 Team
QB     Matt Schaub
RB     Chris Johnson
RB     Darren Sproles
WR    Miles Austin
WR    Steve Smith
TE      Jason Witten
D/ST  Green Bay
K         Phil Dawson
P        Donnie Jones

RB     Knowshon Moreno
RB     Justin Forsett
WR    Santonio Holmes
WR     Kevin Walter
TE      Aaron Hernendez

Many would disagree to pick Shaub over Roethlisburger but Shaub did me well last year with 524 pts and I believe he's on track to do it again this year.

I just don't like Shaub's tendency to turn the ball over, but his production is still good. Him and Ben are not too far apart fantasy wise IMO, so you'd be good no matter who you picked. I would actually kept Holmes since I like picking up more underrated QBs late like Stafford, McCoy and Freeman. That way I have a #1 to use for trades.

Still need more people for the fantasy. I can push the draft if needed.

I thought about picking up Stafford, but he was snapped up before the 7th round where I was going to pick another QB.  Somebody grabbed him in round 5.

Actually, I think he has trouble keeping his shoulders in place, but the humor is noted.  LOL

So how is everyone doing so far?

In the league in which I'm reigning champion, I'm currently 2-0, along with my Jets of course.

In others I'm 0-2 (Thank you Foster and Jackson), and 1-1.

Peyton Manning killed all my teams.

i'm 1-1... I had an awesome first week but the friend I played had a better one.  Right now I think I'm in 4th place out of 10.

1-0-1. I forgot to turn on fractional points and didn't think it would be fair to turn them on only after I tied.

Calvin Johnson, Andre Johnson and Wes Welker are carrying my team.

For my QB, I've just determined that whoever I start between Eli Manning and Matt Ryan won't do as well as the other one, so whatever.

Fred Jackson has ended up being a decent consistent RB.

I'm screwed in that last RB spot. I know I need to trade one of my WRs to fill it but I cannot bring myself to do it yet. I had Knowshon but he's all gimped up. Now I'm rotating among Addai, Thomas Jones, and Caddy Williams.

Bleh.

Also, my TEs are not productive ever. First, Jared Cooke crapped the bed. Then it was Pettigrew. Now? Let's try Scott Chandler. The kid from Harvard has to pass to him eventually.

Chandler isn't bad though his last TD was a fluke. For RBs Jones is good now that JC is out for the year, and I'd suggest handcuffing with McCluster if you can.

Caddillac had his day in the sun, trade him to a scared SJax owner asap and for someone like McGahee or something.

I thought for sure Pettigrew would be amazing. Im holding on to him, hoping he produces.

I'm 1-1.  Chris Johnson's slow starts have hurt me but I'm sticking with him.  Both M. Colston and M. Austin, my WRs are out with injuries, so I picked Henderson (NO) and Branch (NE).  Slid Britt (TN) to cover for Colston last week and he helped quite a bit.  After Austin went out with a hammy, I put Branch in his slot.  I got rid of Cassel (KC) and picked up Alex Smith (SF) to ride the bench until Shaub's bye week.  I thought about getting Colt McCoy instead of Smith, but I wanted a veteran QB despite the better numbers.

It's been a weird year of alternate talent.

People like Peterson are doing as good as normal, but CJ is lagging behind, as are a few other stars.

And then you have Wes Welker playing awesome. The short white Wes Welker.

Wes has been a consistent top fantasy WR for a while. Though not one of the Johnsons when it comes to catching TDs, his PPR potential is through the roof.

I've never played in a PPR league, so he's always been sort of middle of the road.

Just bumping to see how everyone's doing. My Jets are in 2 game losing streak, and I'm praying they beat the Pats. If they don't, this week is going to suck.

Fantasy wise, I got handed my first lost last week, but got my first win in another. All in all not so bad. I'm pretty much assured a championship after I get Rivers in a trade.

Whale, you should be doing amazing even with AJ out as long as you had a decent starter for Moreno.

I'm glad that Andre Johnson didn't actually completely blow out that knee. I guess it was just a hamstring, which is bad, but not bad bad.

I'm starting Julio Jones in his place this week.
