Unbelievable.  What a terrible summer for the sport of hockey.  A former goalie said that travel in Russia isn't as "professional" as it is in North America and is more "loose".

Thoughts and prayers for friends and family.

Yeah this has been a tragic year for player deaths Another Canuck gone. Must be awful for their families, I'm sure many of them spent a lot of time together while their sons played.

Usually it's not the planes, but the people flying them. Aeroflot has had some pretty bad incidents in recent times, and they were long considered the "Best" of commercial Russian airlines until S-7 overtook them recently.

Horrible day for a wonderful sport.

Safety and maintenance in Russia and Eastern Europe is nowhere near as strict as it is in the West and they have the accident record to prove it.  Very sad, one would hope incidents like this would cause people to speak up and get things changed.
