Sold my trucks, '78 last weekend and my 90 today. I am buying an older 'yota and needed to sell the trucks, we bought a new
forrester, I just need something for work and the odd kayak trip Was hard watching the 90 drive away, I've had it for 22 years - good by old friend!

Are those American Racing wheels on the blue truck? I have those on my F150.
I couldn't own a vehicle for 22 years and sell it, it would kill me. Those were nice trucks you had..

My friend's Forester, sorry about lousy sizing:

That 90 was crazy clean. That particular model set, particularly the 88-92 years if I remember correctly, we're subject to some poor paint decisions and generally end up flaking / fading most of their paint jobs. A truck that clean in 4x4 would probably fetch a nice price around here.

I think those were the tests when all manufactures had to change their clear coat formulas. Don't quote me on that though.

yes they are, and I have 2 brand new spares for them that I gave, awesome rims, the clear coat was still on them after 16 years. It was tough, I actually listed it 4 times last weekend and took it down but I had to sell it if I wanted to get the yota as I just don't need 3 trucks at 50! The kid that bought was his first truck, he was real happy and he's in mechanics at school so he has plans already for it.

Yeah that was my understanding, I knew it was either the primer or the clear coat.
Either way not alot of survivors around, with the exception of the SS 454's which I'm guessing were more likely to be garage kept or covered.

Yes my truck seemed to avoid that whole paint peeling off. If your truck met the criteria for premature peeling, you could get your truck re-painted but even the guys here that did that found they peeled again not long after, it was faulty primer applied/baked on at the factory apparently.
I'm headed down the province to pick up the toyota, it's an intersting find, Idaho Speed center put a 1994 Supra 2jzgte in 2007, some fellow bought it into Canada in 2010, changed it to a single turbo setup with a cummins 5.9 turbo running at around 10 lbs boost. Current owner bought it from him and has too many projects going on so I'm headed down and driving it back. http://princegeorge.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-cars-trucks-1994-Toyota-4x4-turbo-W0QQAdIdZ351254584" rel="nofollow - http://princegeorge.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-cars-trucks-1994-Toyota-4x4-turbo-W0QQAdIdZ351254584

I probably just missed it (I'm tired and unobservant) but did the guy say what he ended up dyno'ing out? Those little toyotas make amazing toy trucks, if I lived in an area where you need 4x4 I'd snap one up in a heartbeat.

it was around 350 with the original twin turbo set-up, but that sounds high to me. There is a video somewhere of it at idaho speed center shop, one of it on a dyno and one where it is racing a 4runner with similar set up. I couldn't see it with my settings but from the comments it must have been a pretty crappy race.

On a side note.. I find it funny that EVERY extended cab GM truck of that generation has the passenger side rocker on the extension rotted out. Only the passenger side.

well, was frustrating weekend, I drove down to prince george, about 6 hour drive south and saw 3 trucks. The first two were so different from the pictures it was almost funny. I asked the one guy when the pics were taken because it looked way more worn the his pics on the ad, he said LATE 2008, like that was so ok. The 2nd truck was no better, I mentioned that it might be a bit misleading to post old pictures when the truck was obviously in worse condition, and as I was putting on my coveralls to take a closer look underneath, he said, 'I changed my mind, I'm not selling it to you'; I just smiled and said ok, thanks.
The '94 with the 2JZ was 2.5 hours south of PG, I texted him just before we were leaving and he texted back, ' just so you know, it's not really running that good, it's hesitating and won't idle. I remind that if I buy it I'm driving it 8-9 hours back, he wanted $6,500 FIRM and it needs to be running per his ad and he said he can't 'promise anything', I said I'll pass. Ah well, I had a nice drive through the Pine pass, had a nice supper with my wife and didn't buy something I would regret.

This is the worst time to buy a used vehicle. Not sure how Canada works, but during tax season, used car prices jump substantially. Wait a few more months if possible.

yeah we'll see how it goes, bit hard as I sold both my trucks. Here's a couple of shots from the Pine Pass, great skiing this weekend and beautiful weather: couple of shots across the highway from power king ski hill:

well, I ended up flying one way to North Vancouver from Fort st John ($568.00 one way!) and bought this truck, a 3rd generation - 1993, I'm the 3rd owner, very nice shape. It took 11 hours to drive to Prince George - arrived at 3:30AM - snowstorm from 100 mile house all the way to PG (Prince George). Then this morning it was another 5 hours to home. The truck worked like a champ, it has the V6 3.slow (0) and 5 speed but got great mileage. Needs a clutch soon but body is all original, a few dings, I have Aisin hubs to put in, and the defroster isn't working, other than that the truck was awesome; 1226 kilometers; 768.8 miles for my American friends to get it home. Couple of shots:

and finally home and washed:

I've always wanted a 3rd gen toyota, now that all the kids are gone, I can be a bit selfish! Coming back, I got as low as 17 mpg and as high as 22. Not great but there are a couple of things that might help; the air cleaner - K&N after market - was filthy, it also needs a new clutch, I'm putting one in on Thursday, and I have aisin manual hubs to put in; right now the cv joints turn all the time, once the hubs are done they won't.

Well, 6 weeks after I sell my truck, fella rolls it and writes it off. I've seen him around town a couple of times, rat-bagging it, stuck in a ditch once, and now flipped over. Police cite excessive speed - no snow at all on the road - and he's lucky he didn't kill himself or his passenger. RIP truck, sorry to see it end up like this.

I was wondering that myself.
Sorry to hear that, it would kill me to see someone kill my truck.
....Now you should buy it back for $200, and either restore it or turn it into some hick convertible offroad beater.

I'd say by that pic that there's not a single redeeming hope left for that truck to see pavement right side up again
I'm surprised / happy the guy made it through the accident. That's rough.

I went and saw it today, all the rims are good, I just put a brand new rear-end and transmission in it, the stereo is all there, the propane system, brand new exhaust; and they want 1K. I was tempted but I need to focus on the 'yota so someone will get a good deal if they buy it for that.
