Tippmann markers are for recreational use. Pepper Ball markers use higher FPS and restricted to Police/Military sales. While they might look like regular markers they have diferent valves than recreational paintball markers.

Best case contact your local police/sherriff's department and ask the legality of non lethal launchers.

All I am saying if you use them you could be charged with assault with a dangerous weapon. I got a old Marine buddy that's a CT state trooper I'll ask him. But I'm pretty sure most ordenances frown upon that kind of stuff.

Consider some form of OC spray instead, maybe one of the gel types if you're concerned about blowback. Kimber makes an interesting one. That will be much less of a legal problem with that. Even with OC sprays, if there's a chance you might actually use it, most defense experts will recommend you actually get hit with the product yourself at least once for training, and to confirm it will not cause injury. Pepperballs also cause impact trauma, and you can totally take someone's eye out with one. It's a bad idea for self-defense from a legal perspective, and CT is typically pretty strict on acceptable forms of self-defense. Less-lethal self defense is typically restricted to LEOs, civilians have the choice between non-lethal and lethal options, s my HD shotgun doesn't get loaded with beanbags (rubber batons or buckshot to get the bears out of the barn though)
