Edit: After RTFA, I found this gem which just goes to back up everything ever said about the nugget on /k/

The bullet pierced one deer and passed into a second one behind it, killing the first deer and wounding the second one, Manza and Dickson said. The crew chased the second deer into the woods and shot it again to put it out of its suffering, Manza said.

Two deer with one round?! AWESOME!

I hope they get charged. It's kind of a big deal to shoot a deer out of season.

/on an unrelated note, I hit and killed a porcupine the other night while driving. Slightly unnerving.

I'm imagining the guys being horrified when dealing with a wounded deer. I've had the more suburban/urban sheltered types help me move a log out of the road in bad weather, but it's a different story when it's a mangled roadkill deer. If you didn't grow up with it, I think deer hunting can be a bit unnerving. On the other hand, those asshats got a deer this year and I didn't, but I suppose if I wanted to hunt out of season and with a rifle, I could eat venison much more frequently.
