This last Saturday, me and the girlfriend went to Petsmart where a local humane society was putting a bunch of dogs and puppies up for adoption.  The humane society rescued around 40 dogs/puppies from Georgia that were going to be put down.

I ended up selecting a 12 week old black lab mix.  Her name is Lily.

She's very calm for a puppy and is doing well with the potty training.  She loves to run around and chase leaves that are blowing in the wind.

I love labs. Cute puppy.
The last black lab I saw, was really old and his hind legs were giving out and he finally passed away. That's one of the things about labs. They get some hip disease that once it starts, it quickly gets worse.

Very cute. Hope it doesnt outgrow your apartment. The wife and I took a black lab named Max for the weekend many years back to see if it would work out and we quickly realized that an 800sqft apartment was not a good fit for a 150lb black lab. It also icked my wife out because he seemed obsessed with cleaning his junk. Had a pair on him about the size of a baseball.

Get them neutered quickly and they will be better at being indoors.

Yep I've noticed that she loves to chew things.  Especially now when her baby teeth are growing in.  We are trying to teach her that biting people/clothes is not nice.  She seems to be getting a little better at it in just a very short period but sometimes she gets excited and bites anything.  Oh well...still just a puppy Tongue

I thought of this as well.  However my current apartment is a little over 1000 sqft and I'm going month to month looking for a house or something bigger.  I have a decent amount of grass around my apartment and a sliding door out the back of one of my bedrooms so I can tie her up to a 30ft chain and let her run around.

The plan after talking to the vet yesterday is to get her spayed in a couple of months.  There are multiple reasons to have dogs spayed or neutered.

There are also a bunch of health reasons not to spay or neuter.

But I don't really know that much about it as I'm a cat person and you try stop two cats humping.

Snip snip!

No kidding, I have a large apartment and theres no way I'd get a dog, it's just unfair to them.

Same, it's unfortunate, I've grown up with big dogs and I love them, but a dog needs space, and stability, and I don't know when I'll have either in the next few years.
