I think the TV show, "The Walking Dead" explains it much better than most other movies and games.
Virus/infection/parasite/bacteria that essentially finds its way into the spinal column, works its way up to the brain, overheats its victim (fever). Kills them, then restarts the brain and uses only basic functions of the brain to get the body up, moving and able to use the basic functions such as eye sight, smell, hearing and mobility. -------------

Thats seriously messed up. We have had a few incidents blamed on [insert what ever it is you do with bath salts] bath salts and totally freaking out. One closest to here was last year or so and the teenage girl went apecrap and stabbed her 4 year old step sister to death and then went after her mom. ------------- "When I grow up I want to marry a rich man and live in a condor next to the beach" -- My 7yr old daughter. |

And this is why the news needs to do a better job, there are WAY too many people that believe this. Bath Salts is the slang term for mephedrone and other sketchy similar designer drugs. It's just like calling cannabis trees or grass. It's not lawn clippings, it's just what people call it. Same with bath salts, these are NOT the epsom salts and such you'd be buying at the drug store/ corner store. This is a designer drug apparently similar to PCP and ecstasy, just colloquially known as bath salts. However I'm sure it's just a matter of time until idiot kids try to smoke/ inject real bath salts and we'll see what that does. |

Baths salts is more than a slang term. They are called bath salts because they are sold as bath salts to bypass regulation. States are behind on getting the substances banned, and companies are making them as bath salts so they can be sold legally. I'd be willing to bet bath salts were attributed to incidents like this because the drug itself had been proven to cause serious issues in the past. Oddly enough we had a crazy come into the hospital a few weeks back acting bizarre and telling us he had done bath salts but tested positive for weed and nothing else. Weird stuff. -------------

I don't understand why the news can't report the guys was just crazy. And how they ran with the story when very little details were in. After working pt's with schizophrenia and other SMI pt's. I can see this happening. |

Bath salts were a logical assumption based on the reporting officers experience I'm sure. Its not like he was new. Also probably attributable to the fact that humans feel a need to try and find a reason or catalyst for such bizarre behaviour. A friend of mine ended up knowing Rudy Eugene from high school. She said he was a really friendly guy. It's weird to put a persona behind the character.
