Awesome, I've always thought that would be a great movie to redo.
Only thing that worries me is that it kind of looks like its going to be super action packed instead of them being more gorilla resistance-esque.

I think it'll turn out alright, but I agree with usaf.

Was reading a little synopsis and from the trailer. It makes it seem like they're going to stop the invasion rather than just being a small group. I WILL RAGE IF SO

Red Dawn's portrayal of the Soviets was a really cheesy awesome thing. I'd hate to see them make them serious enemies.

Wow and it had so much potential too. I'm actually disappointed, I thought it would be a bit more serious than this. And Chinese?

10 bucks says it ends up being a random military "group" so as to remain PC.

DPRK. It was going to be Chi-Coms, but then they scratched it because they were afraid it wouldn't play internationally (according to reports). I think they just didn't want to see the PRC clamp down on American movies in the PRC because of this and caved.
I could believe China invading at some point in the future (though the lack of a true blue-water navy would make it really, really unfeasible) But the DPRK? Comeon man! They don't even have enough fuel for their military trucks, let alone for a trip across the Pacific!

Tallen is correct. If you guys want China to invade, play MW2
Red Dawn always reminds me of the "bad" guys in Hot Tub Time Machine.

I thought it was Russia invading in MW2? Or am I missing a tinfoil joke?

Nah, it was Russia. Homefront has the DPRK invading, but face it, with all the consoles and other technology being produced for american computer and entertainment companies in China, I doubt anyone would take the chance of pissing them off with a game where you get to shoot them. It'd be like releasing the original "Medal of Honor" series if Germany made playstation consoles...

Speaking of China. Did anyone see that "secret" Chinese files were released, saying their nuclear arsenal was weak.

Nope, you have a link?
Wouldn't surprise me if they actually were though. Think about it. Hu Jintao and Wen Jiabao are both major proponents of economic warfare than they are of actual warfare. They know we aren't going to use a first-strike tactic and that they've already got over on us economically.

Quick google search. Not familiar with the site, so who knows the credibility. Just food for thought for now.

I'm pretty sure it was Russia, after the terrorist tricked them into thinking America was responsible for the airport massacre.
I can remember it because at the end of the sweet level fighting through DC the dude talks about how the next stop is Moscow. It was badass.

I think Red Dawn is going to be more action-packed than it needs to be. Already it changed from a few Colorado mountain town kids running into the hills with hunting rifles and a Chevy, to a Marine on leave possibly saving the country.
I'm going to be severly disappointed if they don't feature WOLVERINES anywhere.
As for the whole DPRK invasion, I would think a better storyline would entail a joint venture between Mexican cartels and the Commies themselves, and relying heavily on stolen American military equipment.

Huh. Hadnt actually thought about the logistics of the movie and the idea that the Soviet Union was no more. Seems like the Chinese would have actually been the most logical, but I guess I can see the potential implications of portraying them as an invading force. Seems like they have been demonized before in other movies though.
Maybe they should have gone retro and kept it the Soviet Union. Kinda freaky how much that dude on the promo really does kind of look like Swayze.
I'm still looking forward to the remake of Roadhouse.

Nobody ever believed their arsenal was large or particularly threatening, the important parts are that China is geographically large and diverse, meaning that there are many possible launch sites, and that they definitely have the capability to make more if they needed them.

This movie has been sitting in cooler awhile. Actually, it is the Chinese that were supposed to invade. There was a lot of heavy editing changing out all the Chinese flags and emblems to those of North Korea after filming. Super weapon or not, I'm not buying the North Koreans invading the United States. Hell, I'm not buying the Chinese invading, but it is far more plausible. I won't be going to the theatre for this. When I have an hankering for RD, I'll watch the original.
