So, I got Netflix today. Looking for some suggestions. My favorite shows are things like Southland, Suits, Big Bang Theory, etc.
I already plan on giving Breaking Bad a shot, and I'm open for suggestions. Fire away. Movies are welcome too.

It's a very odd show, but if you can tolerate musicals at all watch Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog. It entertained me for 40 minutes.

QFT! Also, I'll second Dr. Who. If you've never seen a modern episode, find "Blink" and watch it.

One of the best ones out of all of the modern episodes.
You've seen Angels take manhattan? Wasn't as good, but the cherub blowing out the match was right up there with 'creepy-ass angels moments'

Can't use Netflix where I live anymore, my DSL just doesn't want to function with it.
When I used it I generally watched old movies that would pop up from time to time and occasional TV shows. I watched Arrested Development from start to finish in a few days, but not too much.
They had Blade Runner on there for a while, and a mass ton of indie movies. I found their collection kind of dry though, especially if you were looking for big name classics. They go in and out of a good selection though.

Not necessarily what you're looking for, but for me, the big ones are Top Gear, Lie to Me, and Workaholics.

I love Archer and Workaholics, they'll definitely be getting some views. I've seen some of the league and liked it, so I'll go through and catch up on it. And I'll probably cherry pick through Top Gear.
Is Dr. Who something I need to start from the beginning?

You'd better hope not, because it's been around since 1963, and that'd be a LOT of episodes you'd have to watch.
The reality is that you need a one-off episode to get hooked in. "Blink" is probably the best of those episodes. It actually doesn't contain much of The Doctor or his companion (I think it's Martha Jones at that point) but helps ease you into a series pretty well by explaining what's up with the blue phone box, etc.
If you watch it and like it, you have two choices. You can either go back to the beginning of the David Tennant era as he's the same actor/Doctor as you see in "Blink" but you'll miss out on the back-story of Rose Tyler if you do that.
The other (better IMHO) option is to go back to the beginning of the "New" series with Christopher Eccleston and start there. He's only The Doctor for one season and then it changes to Tennant who is, by far, the BEST DOCTOR EVER!
Just remember, time doesn't flow in a straight line, it's made up of wimbly-wobbly timey-wimey... stuff.....

Netflix recently got half (They may have all of them by now?) of ESPN's 30-for-30 series, almost all of which are utterly fantastic.

Internet machoism aside, Dr. Horrible is wonderful and you should be watching it now.
Other similar picks: Firefly, How I met your mother.
Breaking Bad is still one of my favorite shows ever.

If you guys get it on the yank site then look up "The thick of it." It's brilliant.

Like Netflix. Gets me past some downtime at work. Only problem is the lack of hands on parental controls. There should be a way to block teen/adult/mature settings with a password or code. The kids can see what wife and I have been watching as it does the, "since you watched THIS, we recommend THIS, THIS and THIS". You can set basic parental controls from the computer, but it takes 8 hours to take effect. You can't even delete your viewing history. So, I am at a crossroads. I don't want to pay for a separate Netflix account for the children, but I don't want to set it for the 'G' or 'TV-Y' so I can't watch what I want. May have to just get rid of it.

Uh, don't know what system you're using to access it, but "Netflix Kids" is standard on the 360.

I'm disappointed The Shield is not on there.
I watched season one of Breaking Bad last night/this morning. Upset with myself for not seeing it before now.

Due to being unemployed, I have been TEARING through my favorite shows this month. My typical days are mostly Netflix, with brief pauses to go to the gym or shower.
I've watched all of Breaking Bad, the two seasons of Archer available, Firefly(and, unfortunately, Serenity), and I just got through 8 seasons of The Office, though I skipped a bunch of episodes.
I'd admit I have a problem, but with another 5 weeks to go before academy starts, I'm only going to get worse.

I was the same way the last 3 weeks but I've been using my phone plugged into the tv. I could only get 3 maybe 4 hours in before needing to charged.

Yeah, I'm on my IPad. It's good for a few hours, but then it needs to be near a charger. I don't mind so much though, since it's just an excuse to keep laying in bed.
Struggling to decide what to watch next. I did find Angry Beavers last night, but I don't think I'll chew through that in one bite.

I probably shouldn't have watched it immediately after finishing the Firefly.I already knew that FF was gone for good, but I didn't really expect Serenity to slam the door so hard. Especially one, or maybe both of the deaths.
I do love me some Jewel Staite though. She and Ellie Kemp from The Office are now way up on my list.
