I bought a new Phenom, 2 months ago. Great marker, but very dissapointed. I also spent a few buck and bought the Tippmann Straightline barrel, but is very dissapointed. The stock barrel is more accurate than the Straightline and the grouping is a lot better. This is very hard to understand, everybody just gave praise to this barrel.

Another major issue is the consistency of the marker, on a chrono the velocity differs from 265 to 295. This is a major jump in consistency.

Is anyone from Tippmann able to help me with this issue? Any advice?

I have read that a TechT MRT bolt would increase my shot consistency, is this true?

OK, just got my TechT MRT Bolt (Bad Karma Edition), don't have a chrono to measure FPS. Have only read good things about the bolt. Will only have a chance to test and chrono next month.

Someone said I have to do a power bolt mod, but cannot see the relevance to that in the phenom.

Tested the bolt, cannot notice any consistency changes in my shots. Can be because of the fact that the marker is not chrono'd. Currently I have no idea where the FPS are(Cannot even take an educated guess). I have noticed that the bolt is a lot lighter than the stock bolt.

My consistency issue could have also came from the fact that the Regulator body was not thigh tend properly. I have read that that can cause consistency issues as well. So I gave the gun a proper service and thigh tent everything properly. One of the main reasons I have no idea where the FPS are on.

Hopefully my issues will be resolved, because I don't want to stop using my Straightline Barrel. It was expensive.

I just started to wonder if my AIR Tank might not have something to do with my problem?

Typically when you have inconsistent velocity it comes from the following;

  • Paint to barrel match
  • Paintballs are not all the same size (low quality paint)
  • Regulator needs grease or service
  • Loose regulator (tighten to valve body)
  • Using Co2
  • Restriction in a remote-line (if equipped)

Let us know what you find out.
