I'll show you what the wife ISN'T driving for a while at least....

It's all permafrost right now. No temp above freezing in over a week. Might as well have run it into a boulder. Radiator is **edited** , good chance the oil pan is punctured and that the axles are bent as well.

Nope, bought a house up in rural Montgomery County, MD. I hate the fact that I live in MD, but the jobs of both me and my wife are here, and there's no way we could have afforded a 2500sqft house on 3/4 of an acre down in Fairfax or Loudoun counties.

I replaced my 06 Taco with a 2012 F150 FX4 (Opted for 5.0 over Eco Boost). My work car got replaced in September of last year. It is a 2013 Fusion. I miss the extra 4 cylinders and room of my old land yacht, but it will get the job done.

'09 Civic. It's pretty fun to drive, reliable as hell, and has decent fuel mileage. I do mostly city driving so it fits the bill perfectly.
If I ever move out of the city I'll be getting a small 4x4 or an SUV.

Still driving my 1993 F150 that caught on fire this summer. It's sad, I used to keep the thing pristine but I really don't care anymore. I don't have the heart to get rid of my truck though. One day I would like to get it repainted.
I did get a screaming deal on an old car though. I'm bringing it home as soon as it gets warm enough and I have a Saturday off.
Tallen, it doesn't look too bad. It's possible the oil pan is toast but I wouldn't count on it. Also, it's highly unlikely the axles are bent unless the rocks directly hit one of them, in which case it would have taken out a control arms and such first. I wouldn't be surprised if its just a radiator and bumper.
I will say though, I really, really, really hope she didn't hit the trans. It's unlikely, but still possible. While aluminum isn't awfully brittle I saw several cracked fwd transmission cases at my shop this summer.

My saga with vehicles the last few years has been hilariously sad, but 'tis a fun story, so here goes.
I
broke the fuel pump on my '02 chevy blazer and couldn't afford to get
it fixed. While I was scrounging to fix it, I was driving my wife's
ancient corolla. Someone took the door off of that for me in a parking
lot, and I drove a company car until I crashed it. Then I got laid
off (unrelated to the crashing) and borrowed a ford taurus from my
father, which had been my wife's, she gave it to her brother, who sold
it to my father, who loaned it to me.
I dumped that in a ditch
last january and ruined the front end, and we bought a '02 Subaru
Forester....which was perfect in every way for about.....4 months until a
tree fell on me while I was driving it at about 50 miles an hour.
Windshield was shattered, the hood and front fenders were crumpled, and
ALL of the light housings were destroyed. We replaced the
windshield, but since there was no major damage, the body is still
wrinkled...that's what I'm driving right now.
*Side note- I
started writing this, then took a break to respond to an ambulance call.
We got cancelled, and on my way home, I lost a tire. So I had to deal
with a flat....in a snowstorm.

We won't really know until Monday at the earliest. We had to get to work and so we didn't stick around for the tow truck to arrive. The trail of plastic and metal left in her wake as she high-centered the the thing with her undercarriage resting firmly on a plowed ridge and her wheels sunk into the furrows of the corn field was pretty dramatic.
I tried to get her to buy a Subie back when she was looking at cars, but she had trouble with the clutch (subies are tougher manuals to drive than others with the AWD) and didn't want to get an auto, even though they all have CVTs with 6 speed manual mode now.
I think, when the time comes, she's probably going to go with a CrossTrek or a Forester next time.
This is what I currently drive:

We just traded momma's 10 KIA Soul for a 14 Ford Escape, and in the deal we also traded my 12 Nissan Frontier as well (a $600 a month sit in driveway do much of nothing vehicle) for a 01 Ford Ranger 4X4 extended cab. Momma is happier and I have a vehicle to get bikes here and there, and putter around town for less than $600 a month now for both.
I got my leftover 'new' 12 Honda XR650L for me, and momma is learning on my 12 Honda CRF250L. The 13 YZ250F is getting prepped for this year, and the Vintage 78 YZ400E is also getting a makeover for this years racing.

I'm currently in the market for my first car, insurance here means ill be be getting a banger to start to build up, only got my license in September at the age of 23. Looking at picking up an older golf for a couple of grand. Can't look at gtis's until I've got some no claims years under my belt. Know enough guys with pizza shops and Chinese places that a couple of delivery shifts should cover the cost of a car. But with me moving office into the city center again I might find it hard to justify getting a car just now.

That's what the rental company gave the wife to drive ('14 model year) I have to say I was impressed with the overall quality. The automatic transmission sucks with it's shift points, and the manual mode shifting is stupid (button on top of the stick) but otherwise, it was pretty decent.

Dem new fivepointohs are some serious engines.

The 5.0 is a really impressive power plant to me. The 4.6 mustangs are great quarter mile machines and, with forged internals, are good for 1k HP if you build them right but the 5.0 is just an entirely different machine. The 4.6 was pretty potent through the 2-4k RPM range but mid and high range torque were terrible. My 4.6 was no good on the highway.
This engine seems to build up its power through the 4-7k range so you get highway power that's pretty unparalleled in mustangs, aside from the SVT cars. The suspension is quite a bit better as well.
That said, were I given a choice of any non Shelby / ZL1 pony car out there I think I might have to go with the 392 Challenger. Those things are utterly wicked on the highway, I got dusted by one on my way from the dealership. People judge them unfairly based on quarter mile performance but on the highway I've watched them just walk off from a C6 Vette. Great engines.

Yeah, it's certainly not comparable to the ZL1 and Shelby in terms of performance numbers but (around here anyway) the Chevy / Ford offering get crazy markups and are tough to find. Really, I tend to write off the Shelby as a collector car because of price (the last one I saw ran about 65K) and rarity. The ZL1 is the superior car in my opinion because of ride and handling, and you can get one nearly 10k cheaper than the Ford car. If I had the income for it a ZL1 would be my DD.
The SRT's run about 50-ish but you can find them gently used in the 30-40k region pretty commonly and man, that car is a highway beast. Especially considering that it's naturally aspirated. Plus it rides much better than the chevy and ford.

Mustangs do have an advantage in that they're the only 'modern muscle' that isn't pigfat. 3600-3700lbs for a 5.0, 4100ish for a Camaro, 4300ish for a Challenger. I may be around 4100, but at least I can fit five adults.

I've never really found the weight of American sports cars to be as huge of a distraction as it's made out to be though. As long you offset weight and power with each other and design the suspension right you'll do fine through both straight line and road courses.
I think the base 5.0 came within striking distance of the M3 and the Boss actually outran it in a road course. The 1LE camaro actually outruns the Boss, so I think they've done a lot to overcome weight issues as of late.

I think I'm going to. I really don't drive my POV very often at all, so MPG isn't really a huge issue for me. There's a 2012 I found this weekend that is a little bit over my price range, but a GREAT price for the particular truck. Considering calling them this week just to see if they can work with me at all.

I got a brand new patrol car yesterday. No agency identifying stuff on the front, so I feel comfortable posting it here. Only had ~360 miles on it when I got it. Though I'm up to about 750 already.
The interior was fantastically done, though the steering wheel feels slick to me. I hate hate hate the weight of the push bar up front, but it's my first one with a cage, which is the nicest change for me. The new 5 or 6 speed transmission compared to the 4-speed in my last Charger is an incredible improvement, though I still want one of our V-8 interceptor models more. Also, steering wheel controls ftw.

Push bar looks a bit crooked there USAF. Been pitting your friends for practice?
Also, being a connoisseur of America's finest police reality series, I know what having a cage means for you. You get to chauffer all the loonies, and potentially violent ones downtown while the guys without a cage get to look good for the cameras.

My plan right now is to sell my car around May-June time frame, buy an old beater VW Golf from one of my co workers for $100 for my last couple of months here, then pick up on 04ish Tacoma when I move back for a DD. Then then around April of next year, depending on where I move to then, get a fun project car. I'm thinking 03ish M3, or 68ish MG.
