I have searched the forum and haven't had too much luck in finding the answer so hopefully I am not duplicating a question here.

First some background, I am running an X7 Phenom that is about 3 years old. I have upgraded to a TechT bolt, replaced the velocity spring, replaced all the O rings and just recently lubed it. Further I have been in the sport since the late 70's.

I have used the Tippmann Flatline for the X7 Phenom, as well as used Lapco Apex ready barrels (with an Apex 2 tip) Hammerhead, Flasc and Rap4 Raptor barrels (all in lengths from 6 inches to 12 inches).

My biggest frustration is consistency and accuracy (let's put to the side that using the APEX2 will lower my accuracy), when using any one of the barrels (which have bores ranging from .680 (my Rap4's) to .690 (Lapco's), and the field paint where we play is GI Sportz at .68 bore size (oh I live in Orlando, Fl so it's usually hot and muggy).

I have sizers ranging from .679 to .686.

I recently went to our field and set a target at 100 feet and went through 3 pods of paint field testing all the barrels I have and I swear I was seeing the same or similar results for all barrels (without the Apex2 tip, with and without sizers, other than my velocity changed for each barrel).

Considering I play woodsball, in a heavily wooded area and my run and gun days are behind me, I would like to be able to mark a target from a greater distance, but tired of either paintballs landing and bouncing off the target, or veering off to the right or left.

I am looking at the Lapco Big Shot Assault barrel (has a threaded top) 9" barrel at .687 bore. Would like the ability to use the barrel with a "bird cage" tip and then swapping the APEX2 tip for long range.

What has been the experience any users have had thus far with this barrel?

I don't have any experience with lapco barrels but with distance shots more bounces will occur with the increase in the popularity of bounce gear. I think you have everything that you need without buying a new barrel as far as using traditional paint.

Are you using c02 or compressed air? Are you running a reg?

First strike may be what you're looking for

Running HPA and unfortunately only field paint is allowed at our field. They use GI Sportz and I have tried both the regular and premium paint, and have not seen or felt any difference.
