I will generally glance at the headlines only on drudge and will occasionally inspect the link without reading the article. I haven't watched Fox, cnn, etc. in years.

As far a Ferguson goes, I listen to a talk show host that has family that lives there and after he finishes his morning show he heads up there to protect his family and investigate. He's retired military and a private investigator.   Didn't catch his show this morning.

Fark.com

Seriously. It pretty much catches all the important stuff, and then makes fun of the idiots who screw up in their reporting.

For direct reading of headlines: USAToday.com. They're the only national news source I read directly anymore.

For local stuff: News-press.com, Naplesnews.com

For work stuff: Chronicle of Higher Education's janky-ass website, Mashable.com, Gawker.com

80% of the time I just get my news through Twitter and Facebook, sometimes Reddit. I let other people do the filtering for me, and chances are I won't miss a story if I keep track of what other people are reading.
