I'm so disappointed.
In casw you live under a rock, Jeremy Clarkson punched a producer and got fired. Likely, the current presenters are all done.
I don't know if I wanted him to get a slap on the wrist, but I'm surely going to miss it. I can't tell you how many times I almost peed myself watching Top Gear

I'm just mad that of the few articles I've read about it, no one used the headline 'And on that bombshell...'

Probably because they're afraid that if they did, Clarkson would come to their houses and punch them.
I'm honestly not surprised that the BBC cut him loose. The man didn't just slug the producer once, he punched him for half a minute, and that was after a very long verbal berating. The UK's over-the-top health and safety laws basically had them over a barrel even if they DIDN'T want to let him go as they are required to take action even if the producer didn't want to press charges for assault and battery, to do everything they can to protect the victim from any possible repeat offense, and firing is about the only way they can do that.
Personally, I've always though Clarkson was an ass on the show, and is entirely over-the-top to the point that it's gotten old. Of course, the show wouldn't be Top Gear without him, and both Hammond and May have stated that they won't continue on Top Gear without him. The BBC says they're going to renew the program for another season at least, but I think we all know how that's going to wind up. It'll be TGUSA all over again with a bunch of guys who have no chemistry plus the personalities of rocks trying to be witty. It's just not going to be the same, nor will it work in the slightest unless they're very, very lucky.
My guess is that Sky, Amazon, and Netflix are all pounding on Clarkson's door come tomorrow. While there's likely a non-compete somewhere in his contract, they can probably find his firing to nullify that in some way or another and essentially start up TG with Clarkson, Hammond, and May all over again where they won't be confined to the strict moral code of the BBC. Who knows, it could get even better on a pay-service channel. Kind of like shows on HBO are always better than on the major networks.

^ What he said. I know I'm really going to miss that show. I just wish they would have waited until after the Ferrari The Ferrari/McLaren P1/ Porsche 918 episode.

I really was pulling for a 2015 Mustang review from them.
I don't know what my favorite episode was. Probably the first car-to-boat episode.

And now you have your conspiracy theory.
Remember how none of those companies wanted to let them do it?.....

I stopped being interested in the show in general when they got caught lying about the Tesla for seemingly no reason other than to put down electric cars.

I've been a TGUK fan for a long time, and while I'm a bit bummed that this is how it's ended up, I'm really not surprised. Clarkson's been in hot water for a while now, and if after everything that's happened he wasn't able to control himself, it's his own fault.
That doesn't mean that I won't be looking with interest to see where he goes from here, or that I'll quit digging up the old episodes online, but I can't get behind the rallying cries for the BBC to reinstate him. You can only grant so many mulligans before the penalty has to go on the score card.
The biggest sting though, is that this follows immediately on the heels of Netflix getting rid of all but the last few seasons- some of the best and most classic episodes are gone from there. Hulu's still got them, thank God, but Netflix was where I do most of my streaming, so it is a minor inconvenience.
