Well since retired been bored to tears. Had nothing to do. In the meantime my grand daughters started wanting to ride dirt bikes. I am kinda done with competitive racing. So I made a nice little practice track in the back yard and we played out there https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Efgnlh5BHsY&feature=youtu.be" rel="nofollow - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Efgnlh5BHsY&feature=youtu.be
A few friends said lets expand it and make it more rider friendly than the local 'supercross' styled MX facility. So we did, for free as local farmer whose kids ride the track provided the equipment. So for a $0.00 investment we have a 'friendly' 70's era open field MX track. Dad's and kids, new riders, old guy can't afford to get hurt riders, interest is far more than I expected, and growing. BTW that local supercross MX track is po'd that we are only 13miles away and drawing off riders from there. Like I told them when I worked there, you cater to the 10% that can ride the main track, and ignore the 90% that do not have the skill level or can not afford to run the track and potentially get hurt and miss work. Really bad business model. I did not like running that track, but would run Thunder Valley a Lucas Oil ProMX series Professional track near Denver http://www.tvmx.net/" rel="nofollow - http://www.tvmx.net/ , and BTW did quite well.
We opened last weekend, and my 'profit' from donations was $240.00. Small but hobby fund stuff. Going into a LLC, momma is going to own it, I run it. Already we have a 'vintage' race scheduled for the track in October with GPVMX and AHRMA paying all insurance costs. So again no cost to me. 50 plus riders, at the standard $35 per, plus $5 gate, nice little profit day. Flaggers are volunteer, Ambulance is Ceresco Fire and Rescue 2 min down the road so no stay at track fee, only cost is fuel for truck pulling tiller and watering (sheep trim the track as they love the low growth grass on the track itself rather than the taller stuff around it).
Interest is booming as we are open only Wednesdays and Sundays, we got 25? coming this Sunday, no cost, only 'donations' till we get the LLC in place.
Trick is find a in demand market and run with it. Whether I keep this up and running for any time is dependent on interest. I understand the surge market in the beginning, so will see. But it is something to do.

NO actually according to Nebraska Law since I am farm land the same law that protects farmers from lawsuits for those who use the land for hunting or fishing covers me. So the 'rider' understands the risk, and assumes all risks if he voluntarily uses the track, his use of the track implies he knows and understands the risks involved. Plus a good attorney drew up a liability waiver from hell that works for other property owners involved in motorcycle off road activities. And on race days the 'promotors' GPVMX and AHRMA provides the event insurance even above the no fault clause in Nebraska Law. So far no Nebraska off road facility has been successfully sued and all legal costs go to the complaintant if fails in Nebraska. Think we are good and well researched.

Nice! Hope it works out for you. Whereabouts in Nebraska are you? I might have to stop by and test it out on my way to North in the spring.

That's a great little idea, and you're lucky NE is as easy with their liability laws as they are. Imagine doing that in NY?
