One of the bennies of being down and injured is my increased game time. I have the PC version and Troop (son) who lives with us now with his kids due to his impending divorce has the PS4 version, we are having fun in our competition. I am doing quite well, built up 'Sanctuary' as my base of operations, General of Militia, and Initiate Brotherhood of Steel. Still having reaction issues but fast enough to stand my ground.

Love this version even though it does overload my system and stutter gets bad after about and hour of play.

I am still painting my miniatures. We have a group that now does 'Bolt Action' in 15mm instead of buying all new 28mm stuff we just use our extra FoW 15mm figs and vehicles.

Three weeks into this, still no VA ortho apt, barely mobile, more than likely I broke something in artificial knee but I do get out now and then due to cabin fever. Went to a college hockey game Saturday night, god I hate getting old, my hockey days are over, now MX, what next?

I love me some fallout.

I'm a level 11 I think. I spend more time looking for copper to upgrade my pipe gun than anything else it seems.

It is a hoot. I have a serious cache of 'stuff' at 'Sanctuary' Have an upgraded 'sniper rifle' renamed M-700 as my primary. Pop in sanctuary now 15, good food production, power, water, new buildings, perimeter defenses, Good to go there. Network set up so supplies coming in, you know the rule...logistics first.

Working on modding power armor, got 2nd whole suit in cache for my human companion, when I let Dogmeat go, keep the dog till you got to venture further south, finds all the good stuff for ya.

BTW guessing mayor of diamond city is a synth...if you have not figured it out, guessing most of security staff as well. Just too much bad juju there.

No spoilers OS!

Are buildings necessary? I spent a while building one, but it seemed like a waste of steel. I'm just going to lay bedrolls out as I see fit.

I need better guns. Synths are annoying to kill.

With buildings and settlements your 'wealth' increases as trade becomes a big factor in acquiring modern weapon systems. Pick one area and create a Base Of Operations, and get settlements 'allied' to you, great things begin to happen.

20,000+ wood
14,500+ steel
2500 copper
tons of other build materials

all due to the trade network.

This is the first fallout I really got into and played a fair amount. I will say the start I was massively frustrated and stuck against this one boss, but once I got past that things have been pretty good.

Got my eye on Carla and Preston as well, suspect synth deep cover recon as I build up Sanctuary they seem over interested in certain things and how I am building up. Carla never leaves with her trade caravan, and not a lot to sell, and Preston spends a lot of time by the bridge defenses.

OK, have fun just beware. Also another glitch in game ID'd. Power Armor pieces will 'disappear' if damaged and dropped off in battle in certain areas.

I don't like the whole Fusion Core bit. Because they deplete so quickly I almost never use power armor. I used armor for the first time tonight on the BOS quest where you go through the satellite array.

Do your recon and assessment of areas without Power Armor, save it fo needed applications. I have military helmet and body armor, does what I need. I only use power armor if and when situation looks iffy. I also use my modified hunting rifle upgraded to 'sniper' and renamed M-700, engage at distance unseen since not in power armor.

I have Sanctuary running with about 11 people or so. Have a few other, smaller places around the map as well. I haven't found a weapon that I love just yet. I have a massive garden growing, so getting adhesive won't be too bad when I decide to start modding.

Good to hear you are still painting and playing OS.  I just finished 3 of my platoon of Pz IV H's.  Driving my wife crazy because she knows I will hide them in our mini Christmas village.

I am overwhelmed in painting. Rebasing FoW stuff on pennies for our 15mm mod of Bolt Action, rules all the same except movement halfed rounding up. Our 15mm BA 'league' is only early and mid, no late war. I have almost finished my E/W French, have Western Desert British and Afrika Corps just about done, and my E/W and M/W Soviets done. Also my 15mm BA 'Vietnam' forces are in the works since FoW Vietnam died here so had to do something with all the figs.

We got our annual FoW 'Tanksgiving' coming up, fielding a late war 2000pt Soviet Tankovy hoarde.

Me too, too many tanks and figures to paint, no time to do it.  I have been working with airbrush and q-tips for my German cammie jobs on the IV's.  I like the ease of using the q-tips and gives a great "field camouflage" paint job even when I use the cheaper Michael's paints.

Ever seen a field 'paintjob' done by a couple of PO's privates in the motor pool? I love to make my vehicles look 'used' and beat up, I even break and bend things as tanks have a habit of bumping into trees and such in the field. These guys that museum paint vehicles? Really?

Loving Fo4, and I like that Power Armor actually requires finite resources, I almost never wear it, which makes sense for a scavenger society.

Busy cruizing the wastelands too. Tis a great version of Fallout. I honestly hope they remake Fallout 3 and Fallout NV with the same engine. Hell I'd want 1 and 2 with it too.

The usefulness of junk is amazing. I have two settlements one with no wall but lots of turrets and one with a wall and only 2 turrets. Still haven't found Diamond City.

They were new once upon a time. Most of my WH40K stuff is showroom but some isn't. Mostly my Guard stuff is worn because they are Guard but about 90% of my Marine stuff is new.

How you all doing so far in FO4? Got 6 thriving 'villes' up and running aligned with 'Minutemen'. Built my M-1100 .50 Sniper Rifle 76DMG, M-140 Battle Rifle in .308 58DMG, and various other toys. Good reinforced 'Combat Armor' and T51b Power Armor, at Level 26, and still wandering and building, not really going after final objective for awhile, just having fun with the logistics part of game. Got a great little house built in Sanctuary, with dog house outside for 'Dogmeat'. Tons of supplies, a few large farms, now building electrical grids in the villes. Having a blast.

I'm only a level 18 or 19. I have seven or eight farms set up. Sanctuary is my best town with 17 people (50 defense). The other ones I have with over 10 people is the drive-in, trading company, and the greenhouse. The most interesting settlement I've seen so far is Hangman's alley. I haven't made it to Diamond city yet, but I plan on heading that way soon.

Having trouble setting up the other settlements. Getting the materials there to build what's needed is a killer.

Roving the Wasteland with my X01 MkV armour. Double shot combat rifle for 130+ points. A night vision equipped Gauss rifle that does like 300 points, a drum fed combat shotgun which holds 32 rounds at 140 damage, with a 25% increase in rate of fire. Thisnis my anti Deathclaw gun. I also have a 10mm anti Ghoul pistol with a silencer because 10mm.

Get a central ville, I use Sanctuary, then set up trade routes from Sanctuary to your new villes, supplies will show for building. Dump everything you get at your central wookbench and it will distribute as needed to other wookbenches in you othewr villes

With the trade routes, will all of the inventory be available at every workbench?

-------------

Posted By: oldsoldier
Date Posted: 30 November 2015 at 4:09pm
It gradually builds inventory at the out laying settlements, you do not have full access to all supplies until ville has pop of 16 and 80% or so I have found. Get your populations to at least 11 by moving people from the smaller initial outlaying settlements to the larger more secure ones. Then expand out. Remember these supply caravans will be raided and the further they got to go, the less chance they will get there with what is needed.

Also cache (drop) the more hard to find supplies in a 'supply room' not in workbench so your inventory does not get panned out or lost enroute to other settlements. Aluminum, Oil, Screws, Copper secure in a 'supply room' and dole out as required.
Get your settlers armed and ammo'd with good pipe guns and get body armor on them ASAP to defend the settlements and when attacked by the time you get there to help usually problem already solved.

Anyone else stuck with settlements at around 16?

My guy is rocking oower armour 100% of the time and I have over 100 core in store. They sell them at all decent shops.

My settlements are all protected by mutiple sentry guns with guys rocking their 1980s style armour over shorts. Lols.

Kayback, the settlements will only get to 10 plus you charisma level. I'd assume you are at level 6.

I built my first missile turrets the other day... supermutants beware.

Ah. And it is natural Charisma. I'm on 11 but that is with my armours. Thanks.

When crafting if you use, say, a used oil can for oil is the steel component stored or wasted? Is it worth it to scrap everything before you store it?

Found and 'working' with The Institute, kinda undercover till I sort this out. Have my BOS credentials as Knight, as well as met The Railroad. Just trying to sort it all out. Cait is with me, she has some issues...but just having fun.   I have 'fortified villes. armed and uniformed 'security' and a vast trade route network, so all is going well. I know I can end this here pretty quick, but going to keep on going to see what happens.

It all draws to abhead pretty sharply. Suddenly one faction will want you to do something which will go against the others.

I just wish the game was more self aware. Just had someone say theyexpected someone better armed. I'm wearing maxed out modified X01 armour and toting a MIRV Fatman. You don't get much better than this.

Also had a rousing speech to some recruits by the BOS as to how a Knight getsvrewarded with this precious power armour, while standing there in my tricked out T45F armour.

Some of the random lines reflect you're well kitted but not the story lines.

Yeah, apparently you can only have one companion at a time, so if you trade your dog for someone, make sure you send the dog back to your base camp or you'll never be able to find hi again.  Poor fella.

Depends on end goal. A lot of 'junk' comes in handy when raw material is needed, just pile it around your central building and use as needed.

I have piles of stuff in all settlements.

Starting to explore a little bit. Not sure how I feel about the game just yet. Having never played a Fallout game before, I guess I need to get acclimated to the gameplay before I can really appreciate it.

I will say, that I managed to thoroughly creep myself out searching through abandoned houses afraid of ghoulers.

Keep it simple, keep it slow and learn. Don't get yourself over your head with 'enemies'. Disengage if too much for you and go around. Expand you little world from your base settlement and get a good perimeter of villes. rest is easy but don't get impatient and try to go too fast.

I beat the game several months back and now have another going where I limit myself to 'pipe' weapons and old military uniforms and body armor, I do collect power armor and return them to my central base ville, got 6 suits already standing there.

Do the power cells for your armor always deplete so quickly? Seems like I can't get through a mission without ~1/2 of it being gone.

Yes- the more you do, fast transport, or run depletes them pretty quick. Only use Power Armor when and where you really need it, store suits at your settlements, and use closest one to where you want to do whatever. Don't use them full time as repair costs in raw materials gets up there as well. I just collect the suits and store them in my settlements till I need one. Use the military body armor, works but not as well, but no 'energy' needs. Also get body armor for you settlement security people as well as well as good weapons. If they get attacked you need them to survive till you fast transport there.

Make sure to take the fusion core out of you armor after you leave it somewhere. You don't want a raider or settler taking it from you.
As far as junk goes, some people stack it on the floor and some don't. I just hit "Y" on Xbox1 and store all of my junk in the workshop.

I have storage boxes for all the different materials at main settlement. And yes remove and store fusion cores. I also use Vault 11 for my main 'base' with all the storage room available.

So far just wandering with bolt weapons and gathering raw materials and 'fun' stuff. The pile of weapons in storage is massive, as well as ammunition stocks. Since I know the drill of how to finish game, making it a challenge.
