Was supposed to be in Virginia this whole week from Sunday to today, but it was cancelled on Friday due to snow coming in Denver. We got a ton of snow on Saturday and Sunday, but then it got nice and warm and sunny and it feels great today.

Changing the coolant in my mom's MKX. Have to change the oil in my POS beater Mercury Mountaineer.

I truly love my beater. It looks like garbage, it's low miles, I never have to wash it and I don't care if it gets stolen.

One step forward one step back on my car. Wednesday got my suspension overhauled, lowered 1.3" on bilstein HD shocks and H&R spot springs, looks and handles much better now.

Next day, on my way to get some groceries, car dies in the middle of traffic. The alternator I put in about a year ago failed. Crappy remanufactured thing from autozone, but it's got a lifetime warranty, so now I just have to wait until tuesday for the replacement to get in stock.

I'm counting down the days/shifts/hours until the students go home for summer break and we get three months of training/BBQ/down time.

How many drunk students do you deal with Thursday?

What's happenin'?

I've been busy as hell lately. Playing bass in 4 local bands, lots of gigs every week. I also went back to school and it's weird being in labs with a bunch of 20-22 year olds.

Goings on:
Trying to acclimate myself to NC spring... Feels a lot like a Michigan summer. I was laughing at all the folks in their jackets when it was in the 60's... now they're laughing at me for sweating my butt off in upper 80's.

Finally reduced my work schedule to 40ish hours a week (down from 80-90 the last several months).

Leaves me with some time to enjoy the AC and play PVP in Elder Scrolls Online on Xbox 1. Aldmeri Dominion FTW.

What're you driving again? Only mother users I can remember are someone's Lightning and hway's truck.

I'm about to hit 26 and the only other non-veteran undergrads in my program are at most 22 or barely 23. Laugh all you want 40+ types, but I've noticed a big difference.

With today's high of 109, I think it's safe to say that spring has already ended.  Luckily, I only have 11 days left here before a couple weeks back home to work on my truck a bit and then driving it to Alaska.

Yeesh! It hasn't crawled out of the 60s here for nearing two weeks.

We switched to short sleeved uniforms on April 15th because of 'unseasonably warm weather.'
Switching back is too much effort, so we're in short sleeved shirts and winter jackets. Ouch

I'm glad our department doesn't have a set time on short sleeve vs. long sleeve for patrol. When I was in CID we had a captain that made us wear long sleeves and ties into mid June. It was hell.

We do the calendar long/short sleeve switch.  It's pretty much one of the more stupid things we do, I'm entrusted with all sorts of things yet apparently incapable of choosing the appropriate sleeve length for my shirt.

We do that crap here too.  To be fair to the leadership, though, there are some people who honestly cannot be trusted to dress themselves.

I hit that point with my truck last year.
After dumping several thousand into front end work, running new brake lines, and playing "tag" with several electrical sensors on my '01 Silverado, I just decided it was time to go for something new.

When I compared the cost of driving/maintaining the old Chevy vs. the brand new one I'm driving now, it was actually CHEAPER annually to get the new one. I've always been one to drive junkers, but it is actually very nice to KNOW (with reasonable certainty) that I'm going to get where I need to be without issues.

Sorry for double post, but yeah...
Don't remind me. It was 92* yesterday and I about croaked. I was thinking about it and am wondering if the air being so much denser at sea level is why I feel so crummy in the heat?
There's at least nice beaches close, but getting out of the office for long enough to go enjoy them is another thing.
