Here's a copy of the letter I submitted to Ricochet About the G2K and the possibility of an A-5 version: "You recently released a gravity feed version of your Ricochet line of hoppers and was wondering if I could suggest a version of this for the A-5. As you know, the cyclone feed system has a unique feed neck. There is a huge demand out there for hopper alternatives since the stock hopper is a bit on the ugly side and early versions had a tendancy to break. I co-administrate the A-5 Owners Group website/forum, and we've had a couple members take matters into thier own hands, building custom A-5 Ricochet hoppers. is the only point of this hopper for looks?
b/c the ricochet really doesn't do much. if any of you have had a ricochet 2k or AK, the form of the hopper never really works. If the ricochet design DOES work, then the paintball will ricochet in your face lol. anyways, does this desing hold more paintballS? what will the cost be and why would we want one? [j/w] |

Well if it hits off one side of the hopper it might go into your face, but if it hits the other side, it will bounce away from you. ------------- |

I'm hoping that if enough people request this, they may take a look at the idea and maybe even release one... I've also submitted a series of custom trigger mods to Steve at JCS. He was actually interested in testing the ideas out and that may lead to adjustable aftermarket triggers for the A-5. Keep it up, since the A-5 is the fastest selling marker on the market right now, maybe they'll see the light. The G2K not only looks sweet, but it also reportedly holds a couple more paintballs and it's got that whole "bounce deflection design." Sounds good. Only problem is that while the design of the Rico would help deflect balls on the A-5's right side, it's wide angular design would intrude upon the top line of site, making all those "snipers" and their scopes/sights unusable. Maybe if they kept their design on the right side, and flattened the left, it would work. ------------- Nutrition for Investigation!

Deflection, I own one, helps out alot. I get bounces all the time, something I never have gotten with the A-5 hopper So what if it bounces into your face, you shouldn't be sticking that far out of the bunker anyways. If you are, at least theres a 50% chance it will bounce the other way. Cost=around the $10 range, though I'd easily pay $15+shipping for one... you should ask them to make one that has a little panel hanging down infront of the loading area to bounce those off, because i've heard that it can be quite a target. a little peice at an angle would fix all of your problems. ------------- "I'm going to make you an offer you can't refuse. I would say that the stock hopper for an a-5 is VERY ugly and seems to break alot.......Still great hopper thogh.

Only the old models break, Tippmann has started making them out of stronger plastic so that's not an issue anymore.

good luck having it by march. they probably are doing R&D right now and maybe just maybe working on a prototype. who knows because i remember looking at their site and seeing the g2k design concept and info was up for a while before it came out. there is a lot of work to get a final production but i bet the ball is rolling though. they cant ignore 100 email from 2 forums. just imagine they would at least sell a 1000 fronm word of mounth on these forums and then everyone over the net getting an a5 and seeing it. This will probably only cost $15 plus shipping too. look at the g2k there is minor differences to the design and nothing that would cost any extra money. they may up the cost because it is a gun specific part and sort of limits the market but tippmann has soldnear 80,000 A5's and if they sell to just 10% of that crowd thats 8000 hoppers which they probably sell at wholesale for $8 which makes them $64000. i predict they will at least sell to maybe 20% of the market if not more. what could you not like about this hopper if designed correctly.

Hey hows it going. I was curious if you guys had planned on making a gravity fed A5 hopper. Im from the A5 Ownersgroup and go by the name WilderBoy. here are 2 links about the hopper that i made using a g2k. many have asked about this hopper and would love to see it produced. so far we have gather around 100 people that would consider buying them on 2 tippmann forums. just imagine the potential sales that would result if this hopper was produced. tippmann has sold near 80,000 a5 since its release. if you reach 10% of that market that 8,000 hoppers. i have a feeling with word of mouth and with reviews from warpig and pb review you may capture even more than 10%. The design for the hopper must include an offset to the hopper to free the line of site. currently there arent any hoppers that do that and in fact this its the only complaint about the a5. more specificly the flat nose and the sight line problems. your design would be perfect for the look of the gun and be a welcome alternative to the app 240 round hopper. please get back to me about this matter. if you have any questions for me id be glad to help with the design. Check this out- "I would like to see an A-5 version of the new G2K hopper. Us with A-5s lack good choices when it comes to hoppers, we are stuck with the stock hopper (which has problems) or putting an end cap on the cyclone. I feel that having a hopper with the unique design of your Ricochets would improve both the looks of my gun and my in-game performance. I would definately buy one, and I know many other people that would too." |

Hey ummm wilderboy or keeper lol can u help me withthe site? Because when i tried to register it worked at first and then i went to check my e-mail and there was a message from A-5 owners but no activation key. So then i try re-registering but for multiple times it said that account is already in use. ok so a day later (today) i found the activation key i hit it and it brought me back to the site saying your account has been created. So when i try to login it says invalid username or password every single time i have looked at teh e-mail that said my username and password and after 3 tries it does not work. i think this might have to do with me not getting thekey saying my account is already in use. So maybe my account doesnt exist and i can never join A-5 owners group i have also tried another e-mail address but for some reson i havent recived an e-mail yet....

OK, i have a question here, i havn't read every single post in this fourm, but i think i have kinda a bead on what you guys are trying to do.
You all want ricoccet to make a hopper for the A-5, i'm clear on that much, but what i'm unclear on, is if you simply want them to make a gravity fed hopper with their trademark deflection style shell, or are you trying to get ricoccet to make an electric aggitated hopper for the A-5? If you are lobbying for simply the gravity fed hopper, i think its a great idea, but if you are lobbying for the electric agitated hopper, i must admit i'm at a loss to understand both why you would want that when the cyclone feeder feeds just as fast as you can shoot the marker, and i'm also confused as to how one would make an aggitated hopper for the riccochet. The feedneck is so wide as it is that the paintballs fall as fast as they are used already, i would think that putting some sort of propeller into it would only slow down the feeding process. could someone clue me in as to what kind of hopper you are looking for exactly? -------------

I sent a suggestion to them about a year ago to accommodate to the needs of A5 owners. I also made a post a whiiiiiiiillllle back about retrofitting/fabricating a rico' shell to fit an A5. WilderBoy made it happen though - very nice job too.

i sent one in too, the only thing i ask is that they make them in smoke or clear too because thats my main complaint about the stock hopper. i think i might send in a few more requests though

Hey, in case you didn't know, a couple forumers over at A5OG talked to the guys at the Rico booth and they said that due to the amount of fan-based emails asking for one, they are going to be releasing an A-5 Rico within the next 3 months. Yay! ------------- Nutrition for Investigation!

Bump! According to some A-5OG members who were at the California Paintball Expo had a chance to talk to the guys at the Rico booth. According to the guys at the booth we're about 3 months out from a release and they ARE making a Rico for the A-5! Rejoice! But rest not.
