Ken at K&P Customs gave me an excellent price on the powdercoating and modification. Shoot him an e-mail and see if he'll quote you a price. You might be pleasently surprized!

I could, but just so you know it looks just like the left side without the "TIPPMANN 98 CUSTOM" and with the addition of 2 valve screws. This is a true centerfeed 98. It takes standard Impulse feednecks.

 N00B QUESTION
Why is a centerfeed important, is it to feed faster, balance gun, all of the above? I like the sidefeed so I can see down the gun if I want.

Many people tilt the gun and aim down the side. With the hopper above your gun it never sticks out the side of a bunker so your target profile is never more on one side than the other. It also provides a more reliable feed line for the paintballs into the breech and it does balance better.

Hey, whatever works for you. If you are not happy with something, change it!

In case anyone wanted to know:

The feed tube was welded to the right side. When the two halves are together it is almost seemless as you can see from the second photo.

It is hard to appreciate the fade until you see it in person. It is a mirror black to matte cast iron. It really is beautiful.

The best part is that it is interchangable. I can use any feedneck designed for an Impulse.

I'll probally be sending my gun in for a powder coating/center feed mod this spring. Exactly like that, except instead of the matte iron, it will be a matte red.

Hows the coat holding up? Better than the factory tippmann paint?

Does the centerfeed increase the feed rate?

The weld and everything is holding up with a full HaloB hopper load? I saved up enough for this and a body chroming wahoo.

My guess is he has just the LP valve. I remember talking to former TE player Evan Aris and him saying that some of TE guns did not have T vertical adapter and LP chamber but just valve.

I have the velocity screw turned to be flush with the body. From there I get a consistent operating pressure that keeps my velocity around 290.

If you run the E-bolt you want to make sure you don't starve the valve for air.

With the velocity screw flush with the body I keep the fps up around 290 consistently with no drop off at high rates of fire.

It is a brand new powdercoat so I can't speak for its durability, however, I have another one with a coat that's about a year old. That one has held up exceptionally well.

I've set the mode to full auto with the max bps and it is flawless. It shoots ropes of paint and never skips a beat until it's out of paint.

The real advantage of the centerfeed is that it provides better balance and reduces my target profile.

No. And it is the battery box for the e-bolt.

Some people find it gets in the way. For them they simply mount the box on the drop forward.

Aris was lieing to you or sumthing b/c you have to have the lp chamber for the gun to function right. Because w/o it you would get major shootdown and drop off b/c the gun wouldn't have the air flow/volume that it would need w/o the lp chamber...And yes a Tippmann will cycle fine around 650-700psi if the velocity adjuster screw is flush w/ the body..

Evan Aris was not lying. The LP valve does not need the lp chamber if the regulator has a high enough flow rate. Aris played and was a gun tech for Tippmann Effect.

Yes I know that..I've posted on the topic before..You would have to have a reg w/ a HIGH flow rate and a VERY good tank such as the max-flo, Air America or a Nitro duck mega reg tank..IMO a present crossfire wouldn't be enough to recharge the reg fast enough...and yes I know he was a gun tech..

It is not so much a matter of the ammount of pressure but the regulator's ability to return the operating pressure back to acceptable levels.

A high output preset Crossfire, Pure Energy, or Centerflag has a high enough flow rate to prevent drop off on a lp valve without a lpc*. The Torpedo is designed to provide air to the Intimidator, which is designed to operate at high speed and low pressure.

*This is not an opinion but a tried and true practice.

You cannot buy a LP Valve alone. Tippmann will only sell the kit.

If you have an E-Bolt just skip the kit as you are going to waste half the reason for getting the kit in the first place. My high pressure 98E does not chop or bust paint.

If you have a stock 98 or an RT then the Torpedo reg will be an excellent choice.

^^ ok i see now.

it just that i have a compress just sitting there. STARING AT ME. asking me to use it. USE me USE me. lol

in a lp valve the only difference is the valve spring right? and it more light weight right? what is the point of the routed out area on the side for. is it so that more blow back gas can go througn pushing the hammer back?

i have a 98 with an rt, and i have the torpedo reg. LOL

Hmm..didn't think that a pmi, crossfire tank would keep up w/ that rate or rechaarge it would need..But I was also just looking at using the max-flo or nitro duck tank as the only reg b/c it is already duel reged and then puting a gas thru on the gat..And yes greg is right you really don't need the lp kit for the ebolt it will work fine....

Though he is right you dont need it I feel it runs much smoother and more efficient with the LP kit.

So Greg the new feed neck is durable so far? No wiggle, cracking, etc.? I was planning on getting this feed neck for when I have this modification done. http://www.paintballgateway.com/chitimsufitf.html - http://www.paintballgateway.com/chitimsufitf.html Good/bad?

You cannot buy a LP Valve alone. Tippmann will only sell the kit.

u cant buy it but if u lose it or something u can send ur kit in and they will replace the valve and charge you.... if u got a freind with the kit maybe.... its like 36$

but if you could buy it separetly u would save alot more money thats for sure. cuz i dont really think a rear bolt, a single stage x-chamber, and a steel hose is worth 80 bux... its a way to make money i guess

I've only had the gun back for a few days and though I've put a few hoppers of paint through it I can't really speak for the feedneck's durability. Dave Ellis this it is the s***. I have no reason to believe he isn't speaking the truth.

center feed is nice but you need more custom mods and an lp kit

sorry to be critical but thats how i rate markers... harsh!

a 10 out of 10 would be the perfect marker so thats why urs is 8 u c?

the center feed is really nice though!!! and the paint job that kp did for you is cool too. that center feed is what i am gonna do to my 98c just different rise than urs.

8/10

One Q for you Greg,

What would you recomend with the center-feed/rail setup, a Halo B or an Evolution II w/Y (or Z)?

he has a lp valve

I do not have an LP valve. I had stated earlier that you can use an LP valve without the rest of the kit if you have a regulator with a high enough flow rate.

I don't use the LP kit because it is added weight I don't need and the gun is consistent enough in its current form.

The gun has all the upgrades it needs. Any more would be just for looks and add unwanted weight.

you can make an lp valve by milling out the flow vents a little.. if you have a mech gun ballistic sports sells the lp valve spring, but it owuld do nothing for an ebolt setup...make your own

Yeah, that modification was tough to install as it is not a stock part. My daughter saw that I needed it though and let me have it at next to cost!
