    Posted: 05 January 2008 at 1:23am

I picked up two Pro-Lites for $10.  One works (worked) and the other was used for parts.  I've been tooling around with the "working" marker after I finally used it, then it took a dump on me (started burping) during a game with a full tank.  I replaced all the o-rings, but I am missing the velocity screw.  I found a previous post from another member who was having the same issue, so I will go down the list and try each solution out.  The marker is now a work in progress, as I am waiting for the parts to arrive and then trying to get the issue resolved.

My other problem that I need recommendations for:  I was hoping to get the "parts" marker up and working but somehow, the previous owner had managed to strip the bolt of the gun valve fitting that secures into the valve assembly, so I can't even get the marker apart.  The "parts" marker is in decent shape and needs a few parts (missing the front bolt and velocity screw.)  Anyone have any ideas how to remove the gun valve fitting?

Also, both markers, are missing their safeties.  Although I use this as my safety (motions with trigger finger,) I probably should replace them so I don't catch any grief at the field.  I didn't see any on TippmannParts, does anyone have any recommendations on where else to look?

Velocity screw is the issue with your first one. The loss of back pressure means it won't re-cock the way it is supposed to. As for the valve fitting, take a dremmel and cut a slot into the fitting so you can fit a screw-driver into it. Very carefully, use the screwdriver to back it out of the assembly. As for safeties, I believe pro-carbine or .68 carbine safeties will work.

I switched out all the o-rings, replaced the missing velocity screw, and put in a brand new power tube.  Now the    is releasing propellant/CO2 through the barrel/power tube.  Tell me if I am wrong, but I am guessing that I need to replace the valve.

With the extra money that I am dumping into my "working" Pro-Lite marker after it took a dump on me, I am scrapping the idea of getting the "parts" marker working.  The nostalgia of owning and using a Pro-Lite has become bittersweet.

Yep. Sounds like a valve problem. You might be able to repair/rebuild it. Otherwise, if you don't want to invest in a new valve... you could call Tippmann and see if they'll rebuild your valve if you send it in.

In the past, for a very small fee, if you sent in your old valve they would rebuild it for you. I sent in two Prolite valves for refurbishing a couple years ago, and instead of getting my valves back rebuilt... they simply sent me two brand new valves.
Now, they might not have any Prolite valves or valve parts remaining in stock... but it's worth a shot.

Thanks ShortyBP.  I still love the Pro-Lite, I am just a little discouraged.  I'll invest in a new valve.  In hindsight, I probably should have picked one up when I bought my other parts.

Don't let it get you down, once you have it up and running, it'll last another 10 years without needing any work. Pro-Lites are the AK-47's of the Paintball world. That's why you still see so many fields use them mixed in with the ultra-popular M-98 series
