Topic: Remote Quick DisconnectPosted: 19 July 2006 at 12:38am |

I've done some searching and found no threads similiar to my problem.
I was playing last Sunday and I noticed that a small amount of air was leaking from my slide check from my quick disconnect on my remote. Most of the time it would leak when I had the air/remote disconnected from my gun. Sometimes it would leak while it was connected to my gun. If I messed around with the slide when it was on my gun I could usually get it to quit leaking CO2. When it was leaking while disconnected from my gun I would usually unscrew the pin from the remote that was attached to the tank. Anyways I'm thinking maybe my O-rings inside of the check valve have gone bad, any suggestions. I hope this is in the right forum. Thanks. |

yea, you've got the right forum. sounds like it might be an o ring, change it and report back on it, other than that, im not sure what it could be. edit-could be a loose connection with the connector, make sure its in tight Edited by GI JOES SON - 19 July 2006 at 12:53am |

Are the threads on the on/off and slide check tight and sealed?

Try oiling the female side of the QD. Those "O" rings respond to oil just like those inside the marker. |

G.I. Joe was right. I took the black slide off and the 2 O-rings
that were inside of it were your plain old tank o-rings. So I
replaced them and re-tefloned the threads. Put everything back together
and it worked just fine.
Thx for the help. |

You can fix a slide check so that this won't happen near as often. Hears how you do it. First- Don't be afraid to take a slide check apart. They are very simple and don't have any little parts or springs that are gonna fall out. To fix it you just need a fine file or sand paper, two wrenches, some teflon tape, a pick, and some tank O-Rings. Using two wrenches remove the quick disconnect from the slide check and set it aside. The slide is usually held on by a metal clip or an O-ring. If it's an O-ring just use a pick to roll the O-Ring off the edge of that smooth cyclinder and let it stay right there on those threads. If it's held on by a metal clip take the clip off and set it aside. Be careful to not let the metal clip fly away. OK, now you can just pull the slide off. See those two tiny holes in the smooth cyclinder. That's what cuts the O-Rings. When those holes are drilled at the factory they end up with a small burr or sharp edge on them. You need to smooth those two tiny holes with a fine file or sand paper. Don't go crazy and remove too much material just make sure those two tiny holes are nice and smooth. Now look inside the slide you pulled off. There's two O-Rings in there. They're usually exactly the same as tank valve O-Rings. Replace the bad one or both if needed. Oil the smooth cyclinder and push the slide back on. Put the O-ring or metal clip that holds the slide in place back on. Now put some teflon tape on the threads and put the quick disconnect back on nice and tight. Look into the end of the quick disconnect. See that little black O-Ring. Make sure it's in good shape and replace if needed. Before each day of play always oil the slide check. Just put a few drops right there where it slides. This will greatly reduce how often your remote gets a leak. If it does get a leak just follow these steps and fix it quick. Edited by DVLCHLD - 20 July 2006 at 8:13pm |

I've never seen anyone own the woods because of what marker they use.

A slide check is just a simple on/off valve for the air pressure. With a slide check you can easily disconnect the remote line from your marker without having to turn the air pressure off at the tank. So you can easily lay your marker down for a minute, then pick it back up and plug your remote back in and go. A slide check also lets you pressurize your remote before you plug it into the marker, this keeps the line from kinking up like it does. It makes using a remote so much nicer. My slide check hasn't leaked in months.
