Not really do they do much besides what you said, but it can help keep liquid C02 out of the gun. You can get one if you like, but if your goal is to keep the liquid C02 out, you might as well get a C02 tank with an anti-siphon installed.
And your friend should get off his high horse. A remote for a sixty dollar gun is not something to brag about.

They give your co2 a little more time to expand into gases but not much. Get one if you dont like having a tank on your gun.

well your friend isn't very much of a bigshot because he bought his gun at wally world ( walmart ) but yes the remote works as an expansion chamber and gets the tank off the gun ( making gun lighter )so in a way they are cool, but i stopped using mine a long time ago.

I love my remote, I dont hafta worry bout gettin an anti-siphon tube or an expansion chamber fer the 20oz co2 tank that I carry and I jus recently installed a slide check to my remote, now I dont hafta turn the on/off valve to the tank, I jus slide that lil sucker back and disconnect it from the remote adapter thats screwed into the asa and besides, holdin a 98c wit a Flatline and a tank at the end makes it a lil too heavy to be running around in the woods....especially runnin uphill.
And as fer yer friend thinkin hes a big shot.....dont worry about it, hes all talk.....the remote to his marker doesnt make him a better player.

A big shot for having a remote line? Huh- the recoil on the gun will screw up his aim unless he has a stock. I use a remote for moving my heavy 20 oz tank to my back so my gun doesn't weigh 80 pounds, and because my tank won't fit on the gun with the stock. Sure it can get tangled on bushes, but so can your shirt, mask, even paint hauler belts can. I like my remote because it makes my gun lighter and lets me put the stock on I want.
