Response and e-trigger system questions

Hey folks. I play scenario and woodsball games a lot with my A-5, and I'm looking at a new trigger system to let it fire a bit faster. Now, I can already fire the gun pretty fast for a mechanical trigger, but I'm still looking for faster.

I'm looking at both the Tippmann e-Trigger and Response Trigger. Both have areas that I do not like at all. The bad things with the e-trigger are the full auto and battery. I hate having to worry about any battery other than my red dot sight. And the full auto kind of bugs me. Everyone that has the e-trigger says that the gun isn't truly fully automatic until the trigger is pulled 3 times and held. I just want to pull it once and let it go.

Bad things with the Response... External air hose and AUTO ONLY. The auto only is a major problem, because I want to be able to fire of one shot here and there, but still have a fast fire rate at full auto. The external hose feeding the trigger doesn't seem to secure either. The Cyclone's hose is short and semi-concealed, so I'm not worried about that.

My main question is what trigger system would be right for me to use? And if I happen to get the Response trigger, is there anything that can, say, go into the spot where the stock safety is to allow it to switch from semi to auto? Or any way to switch it, really?

Edit: forgot to add, I have a compressed air tank that I use for my Piranha SRT, and was wondering if the Response could function on the lower pressure that the HPA tank provides? Or if I go that route, should I stick with CO2?

Welcome to the forum.

RT vs. E-Grip is one of the great debates of the forum.  If you try some searches, you will find a significant amount of information.

But you appear to not understand how the RT works.  It is not a "always full auto" device.  All it is, is a trigger-assist.  When set carefully and with practice, you can get what amounts to full auto.  But this is not something you turn on or off - it is fully within your control at all times, since your finger moves with each shot.

In fact, one of the main attractions to the RT crowd is the ability to go from single shots to long strings without doing any adjustment at all - pull the trigger once, you get one shot.  Let the trigger bounce, and you get a string.  It's all up to you.  Of course, holding a string is more difficult with the RT than with the E-Grip, particularly when moving or shooting off-hand, but with practice you can get quite good at it.

This is also the RT's greatest weakness - it requires tweaking and practice.  Some get frustrated and never learn to use the RT properly, while others do very well with it.

As to HPA - that is one of the tricks with the RT.  It is more difficult to get the RT working well with HPA, but if you get it set right it works so much better (because of the consistent supply and lack of freeze).

You can shoot one ball at a time, just let go of the trigger.

Dont worry about external air hose.  Will you be pulling on it constantly?  Its for the cyclone, youll have it either way.  And RT is "Full Auto", people who want that option without batteries get that.

Im not seeing how you want to turn the RT on and off.  Go with the Electronic frame, youll be happy with it.  Like you said, you want to go from semi to "full auto".  The first 3 shots before the full auto starts is like, nothing.  Its simple.  If you cant think enough to shoot 3 times before you get full auto, you have a problem.

And what do you mean lower pressure from an HPA tank?  Do you run a low pressure HPA tank on a Piranha?  I thought they were high pressure guns.  Any high pressure HPA tank will run a high pressure gun.  HPA tanks dont necessarily have lower outputs than CO2 unless they are actually low pressure, or mid pressure output tanks.

Hope that helps.  I really didnt like the RT, I do like my dad's electronic frame on his AB, which is essentially the same thing.
