A brief history of the British Sterling:
![]() The Sterling submachine gun is a British submachine gun which was in service with the British Army from 1953 until 1988 when it was phased out with the introduction of the L85A1 IW (Individual Weapon). Sterlings have a reputation for excellent reliability under adverse conditions and (allowing for the fact that a blowback action is used) good accuracy. A total of over 400,000 were manufactured. Sterling built them for the British armed forces and for overseas sales, whilst the Royal Ordnance Factories plant at Fazakerley (near Liverpool) constructed them exclusively for the British military. A Canadian version was also manufactured under licence, called the Submachine Gun 9 mm C1 made by Canadian Arsenal Limited. It replaced the later versions of the Sten submachine gun from 1953 onwards. A similar weapon, the "Sub- Machine Gun Carbine 9 mm 1A1" was manufactured under license by the Indian Ordnance Factories at Kanpur and at the beginning of the 21st century, the weapon is still being used by the Indian Armed Forces. About 90 countries purchased various quantities of the gun, including Ghana, Libya, Malaysia, Nigeria, Tunisia and some Persian Gulf states. The Sterling has always been one of my favorites. \it's 9mm cousin. Photos of my new Sterling follow. This version is a "modern version" chambered for the .223 NATO round. The side-fed design of the weapon gives it a lower profile and makes it desirable for covert operations. ![]() ![]() ![]() In development with 20 rd. mag installed: ![]() A bit of trivia, the Sterling was the basis for the Stormtrooper Blasters in the Star Wars movies. Wow...amazing work as usual, nauzer! This is probably one of my favorites milsims you've done. It matches up pretty well to the real thing. Nicely done. |

I like it, however, if you want to make it more authentic looking, cut off whatever on the weaver rail that is not covered by the mag well, and get a skinnier mag. Nice though |

Imo that doesn't really look like the real thing, other than having a mag on the side instead of the bottom. |

Although it's not an exact replica, it still looks badass. I like it. If you ever want to make an authentic one, I'm sure there are some demilled parts kits floating around for short money.

Well, let's see, several of the components came from the local gun shows they have here all the time, like the swivels, flip up front sight, rail and rail covers, both scopes, mags, various mounts and the CAR stock saddle. The Flatline shroud with the Picatinny rails came from Opsgear. It their "Raider" shroud. The MG-20 (mag holder) came from the gun show but you can get them from Cheaperthandirt.com. Just do a search there for AR15 mag holder. The Bipod mount came from the gun show, the Bipod was a Wal-Mart copy of trhe Harris Bipod - MUCH cheaper and just about as good. The CAR stock came from Hobbytown USA. On the other gun, the stock is the Opsgear folding AK47 stock. Scope is an NCStar electronic lighted recticle scope. Flatline Barrel shroud came from SpecOps and the machine gun shroud on the last gun came from Opsgear. The Lapco Offset mounts can be purchased almost anywhere. Several of the components are real gun parts and of very high quality. for example, the swivels that mount to the Picatinny rails were $39.00 each. This was not a cheap gun to build. Very nice, I'm pretty impressed.
Although I'm a much bigger fan of airsoft than of milsim paintball guns, your guns show a ton of creativity and effort, great job. |
