    Posted: 12 April 2007 at 11:25pm

I have been playing woodsball for the past few years and a couple friends wanted me to try speedball, so I did.  All I had was my A-5, and I always hated speedball, guess it was because I never tried it.  But once I started playing I loved it.  The adrenaline pumping!!  It was great.  I was doing decent, but knew I needed a lighter gun, and faster.

So I'm looking for suggestions.  Most of the guys I was playing with had Spyders, they were fast.. but every now and then something would happen to them.  I've read some posts and noticed that ions is the choice for alot of people.  I'm looking for something reasonably fast and light and can run on C02 and HPA.  The price range of the gun around no more than $300.  I've looked into the Spyder VS3, but not sure about the Spyders after playing with some.

ICD Promaster is better than the ion, the Lasoya Promaster is preferable.

An ICD freestyle 05 or later

An older gun like a DMLCD, Angel LCD, or Angel LED.

That's a tough oder to fill with the HPA AND CO2 bit thrown in. You can generally fire some of the shockers (not the nice ones) using ant-syphoned CO2 and a Maxflow (older) reg.

There are some really good deals out there on markers that the previous poster noted.

I just added up a total for another guy with a Lasoya Promaster, 68ci/4500psi HPA tank, and eVLution-3 loader for around $450.

But before we go any further, exactly what do you want out of your marker? Light-weight? Are you looking for sheer speed? What price range are you looking in? etc.

Let us know the details and we'll be able to point you to a good marker that much better.

Oh, and welcome to the wonderful world of Speedball. There's no use fighting it, once speedball's got its hooks in you, you're hooked for life.

I'm not really worried about the lightness.  Been playing with the A-5 for so long, got used to the weight.  The sheer speed is what I'm looking for and especially the size.  I'm a small guy, and would like a small gun.  Like I said, for just the gun, I don't plan to spend more than $300.  As I get more money I will slap some upgrades on it, hopper and what not.

Speedball is full of sweetness.  You either mutilate, or get mutilated, and both is a great feeling.

EDIT:  The reason for the CO2 and HPA is that we only really have CO2 refills around here and the HPA fills are a good distance from here but the local shop said hes looking into getting one soon.

You could get a cocker, they can run on CO2 or N2, as Tallen said older shockers, or a bushmaster....some newer guns can run on anti-siphoned CO2... such as ions, and possibly freestyles (according to the manuals in icd.com).

You can find a decent autococker on pbnation for 100-180 dollars, and a freestyle (used), ion (new), promaster (new), shocker (used), or angel (used) in the 150-300 dollar range (older shockers could actually be cheaper).

I know, I just included them b/c you can get them in the price range... really older shockers, freestyles, bushmasters, impulses, and ions, promasters can be run off of CO2, but it is preferable if they aren't.

Autocockers can be run off of both w/o inherent issues, and are what I would suggest.

Angels, DMLCDs, etc should not be run off of CO2 (big print in the manual, lol)...but you can get them for around the price range he is inquiring about.

Sweet, I appreciate yall helping out.  I'm leaning towards the ion so far.  But I plan on doing more research.
