Yeah, I really doubt they go 6000mph. That would be fantastic though.

I doubt it travels at mach 7, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was gold-plated or diamond studded or something, with the way Dubai wastes money.
They're driving themselves into bankruptcy spending money like this. They have no concept of sound investment, they just spend money because they can. Edited by Brian Fellows - 03 January 2010 at 11:34pm |

I've been up it. The lifts weren't that fast :)
I wonder what G load Mach 7 would produce? It is an awsome building though. KBK |

Thats pretty nutz. I would never go in it though. Its bad enough that when I go to my moms work I have to walk up 23 floors because their elevator goes so fast it makes me almost puke.

I would not want to work in that building especially at the top. I think I was watching a history or discovery channel special on this building saying the design was to brush the wind off so it doesn't cause it to sway like crazy.

Stopping would be fun because it would produce like 1800G. |

Assuming the best case scenario, the elevator would reach its top speed, 2682m/s, exactly halfway up at 414 meters. The acceleration would be 8688 m/s^2 or 886 times the acceleration of gravity. You would be a pile of mush on the floor. If you accelerated that much through the distance of the building and let the elevator shoot out the top, it would go to over 700km altitude. |
