I recently bought this tank for my A5:
http://www.pntball.com/p-536-jt-usa-50ci-3000psi-preset-n2-air-paintball-tank.aspx I guess you get what you pay for...It will only last ~500 rounds. After 1 full hopper and the first tube you can see a BIG drop in distance... Since i mostly play scenario, its not fun all the walks to the refill station. Now...not sure if its because of the tank or my gun...but i want to blame the 50/3000 tank. Now the budget office (wife) approved a new tank purchase, and this time i was allowed a higher budget. Now i'm between this two tanks... http://www.actionvillage.com/031-316-0045 http://www.tippmannparts.com/Ninja-HPA-Bottle-68ci-4500psi-5-Year-Hydro-p/5634.htm I read somewhere that the crossfire are 850 psi and that A5 kinda need the 850. Also I've read good things about it from other A5 users. Now...i like the idea of a CF tank...but then...i would need to be xtra careful and would need to buy a cover for it. The ninja tank is adjustable and if i ever upgrade that's a plus. The ninja tank "only" get to 800...not sure if I should care about it or not. Any other tank i should consider... budget is around 150... Thanks in advance! |

Ninja tanks can be shimmed to put out up to 950 psi. And no, 800 should be fine honestly.
Get the biggest 4500 High pressure tank you can afford. The weight difference between a fiber wrapped 68/4500 and a 90/4500 is negligible (especially compared to the 50/3000 steel tank you have. Tippmanns love air, and you'll never regret having more of it. A tank cover isn't a must, but its pretty close. If you run and/or hit the ground hard at all, it's just safer to protect your tank. Not that I think it likely to explode if you trip and fall down, but if it gets scratched too deeply it will fail a visual examination when you have to have it hydrotested in five years. Something people don't mention is that CF tanks are slick. Having a tank cover on them keeps them from sliding off your shoulder as you run 'n gun. The shot count you're experiencing with your 50/3000 is accurate by the rule of thumb for number of shots from a compressed air tank. 10 shots per cubic inch from a 3000psi tank. 15 shots per cubic inch from a 4500psi tank. While thats just a "ballpark" considering the wildly varied efficiency of some guns, for cycloned tippmanns its pretty accurate. A 68/4500 should give you just over 1000 shots, and a 90ci tank would give you 1350 or so. _EDIT_ This is Ninja's big tank. It's sitting on the edge of your budget. I would get enough "Honey-do's" taken care of to get myself the extra money for this and ask for a tank cover for Christmas. 90/4500 tank Edited by Dazed - 04 October 2010 at 1:11pm |

GREAT!
thanks for the suggestion... although its on the higher end...tippmann parts has a 10% coupon that i can use! Also, my wife just spend 125 on a dress she will only use twice! (+ shoes, accessories, etc)...so i think i can push the budget limit... Now... Would it be safe to use it directly on the gun...or should i go for a remote set up? |

You can run with the tank directly on the marker. If you feel it is cumbersome, you can look into a remote, but personally, I am no longer a fan of remotes. I find every so often, I have a need to either put the marker down or switch hands. Neither of these is very convienent to try and do if you are tethered to a remote line. Some people swear by them, so it might just be a preference thing. |

It is... I love remotes. Every now and then I will go gun on just because I am not wearing my vest or i just feel like not using it but it takes olot of weight off your arm for the longer scenarios and battles. but it is all prefference. If youdo get a remote I would recomend the proconnect3 on it. www.rockstartactical.com has a good deal on it i believe. it allows you to take the gun off the remote without turning off the tank and works much better than a slide check.
