Just for the hell of it a couple days ago I was thinking whether or not you could use the tippmann 98 custom to tippmann a5 barrel adapter and use the a5 flatline instead of the 98. Would this work? Has anyone tried this? The reason i'm asking is for anyone who's owned the 98 flatline and had breaks during the middle of the game i've actually taken it off (unscrewed and everything) to clean it out pinned down in a bunker with three other guys protecting me. I just think the a5 flatline looks and is easier to keep up with. Just a idea let me know if anyone can help me with this.

that's a major flame, he's sincerely curious, I hope you get a strike for putting him down.
But I think he is right, the flatline needs an adapter already, and i don't think the flatline would go far enough into the gun if it had to go through two adapters. |

Try it. It would probably work just fine, but it may look kinda strange.

the reason I was asking is I have seen it before in a mp5 modified version of the 98c and it wasn't to purchase it was just another guys at the field and it seemed that he was able to make it work although as JP sais I am probably a dumb a$s not like i'd know anything having played since 1994, still a noob i guess at least on the forums they cant see the scars from when we still wore only glasses to cover up. Thanks for your help for the ones who responded I think i'm going to get my friend's a5 flatline and try it out first, I can already fabricate a link for it if I need to I have the tools in my shop, hope it works.

the flatline doesnt use threads...it attaches to the gun by taking the place of the origanal barrel adapter the flatlines attachment looks like a large/chubby wingnut sorta...it quarter turns into position maybe you can cut threads in or something... good luck |

As Klaus said, take a look at the QTC (quarter-turn connection) on the A-5 flatline. It actually replaces the stock barrel adapter on the A5. As for quick change, you would probably have better luck putting a M-98 flatline barrel onto an A-5 with an adapter. In general, many people I have seen with A-5 flatlines carry a spare barrel with them on the field and use the flatline until they get a break and then switch out and clean it after the game. J&J Ceramic seems to be popular for this since it doesn't get as badly effected if its a little dirty.

That fellow probably just made a sheath to go around his 98C flatline. I think one used to also be available on the net to make the 98C flatty look like an A-5 flatty. |

ive wondered about that as well because the 98 flatlines are so ugly and huge an a5flatline would look cooler |

i vote tippmann redesign the 98 flatline. i used my friends 98 flatline
a few weeks ago, every time i hit over 6 bps, it broke every ball and
shot like a shotgun. it was funny though shooting people with splatter.
but back to my original thought, not like theyll redesign it anyway
unless they really want to be nice and not lazy, but they dont even
update the site.

would it look weird if you somehow put an A-5 flatline on a 98 Custom? that would be freaky. |

you can't be serious? I shoot 15bps and it doesn't break! What kind of paint are you using, because the flatline works best with expensive paint. Also, try a Dead On: Front Bolt (whatever the heck it's called... I forgot and don't have magazine), and a expansion chamber or regulator of some sort. |
