I just received my 12in. J&J in the mail for my Tippmann 98 Custom. I noticed that the threads for the barrel are chipped at the very start and very end of the threads. (The skinny part of the threads. Tippmann threads start skinny and then get fat and then skinny again.) Has anyone else had a problem with the threads cracking or being cracked? I know the barrel is ceramic so it will never be as sturdy as an aluminum barrel, but it shouldn't crack. It still works, though.

Has this happened to you?

What do you think I should do? Send it back to First Call Paintball and have them ship a new one? That would be another two weeks waiting though. What would you do?

Well, first off, the barrel IS aluminum.  It has a ceramic coating or lining.  If you believe you have a damaged or defective part, call the supplier and get it replaced.

It screws in fine, but I'd rather just get it replaced. I just mailed it today. I figure since my valve is leaking, I can't really play anyway. I read somewhere that if I just wash out the valve, it will help it out with the leak. I want to do it but am afraid I'll get stuck on the first part. -Taking the snapring off. That has got to be the most difficult of all. Oh and also... What is the correct way to put the cup seal in? Ahhh... I'll make another post in the maintenance area and just copy this in.

My J & J was chipped on the threads too but it still works and I've been using it for more than a year with no problems.

But what I do I do because I like to do.
