What is the benefit to polishing?

   I've read quite a few posts about how to polish the internal parts of the marker, but I was wondering about the actual benefits to polishing it?  I userstand the basic idea of a smoother surface will cause less friction, but is it really worth it?

Is there a noticable different?  If so, what is it?
