My friend's mom works for Nintendo, so he gets some new products before they are released... for free.
He showed me the new DS with the new Metroid and it's amazing. Using the stylus is just like using a mouse so it is very easy to aim. The top screen is through the eyes of samus while the bottom has a map with weapon options and the "morph to ball" icon along the sides. The best part: I can get a 20% discount off of him, and I can get it early if I so desire. The normal price is 150. For those of you who don't know what it is, it's the new Gameboy. It's graphics are very good and it has 2 screens, the bottom being touch screen. |

I've been trying to find out if it will connect to the Game Cube like the Advance and Advance SP can so I can play the Zelda game and Crystal Chronicles with my fiance. With the DS coming out so soon I'd rather buy it than another SP if I can. Any chance you can find out for me?

It looked pretty good. I think sony will beat it out with the PSP though...

DS is nice but PSP will be better if they can lower the price a bit, $200 is too much for a handheld.

Actuly, The DS is not named under the gameboy trademark... They are trying to create a new nintendo pillar with the DS.... So for all you Gameboy fans, the Advanced will still be manufactured, and probly drop prices quite a bit.. |

Nintendos consoles dont suck, their game selection does. The official
nintendo games are pretty cool, but they fail utterly at attracting
good developers.
All nintendo really has locked anymore is handhelds, and ill wager the PSP is going to end that. DS looks like yet another stupid nintendo gimmick like the virtual boy or the glove thing, or robby the robot. |

This looks like it could be the end to Nintendos Handheld reign, its finally getting competition. If I buy either Im definitely getting a PSP. However with the release of the DS I wouldn't mind picking up a GBASP like this one here...

So very true. I remember reading about the gamecube, or "dolphin" and the potential it had, and how awesome it would be... then the games screw it over. With the DS, they are trying to distance themselves from the "young kid" nintendo, and aim it more for the more mature audience. Hope it works. |

I still think Nintendo will come out in the end. Remember Sega's handheld that was claimed to be so much better than the gameboy? Well what came out in the end? A big grey block with a single green colored screen. This could turn out the same way. Sure, the PSP is powerful...but is that what we want? Look at it this way. The PSP gets around 4 hours of battery life. It needs flash memory to save to. However, it doesn't come with one, so you would need to run out to your local CompUSA and drop another $50-$100 on a ram stick. The PSP is just a portable playstation. I buy a handheld because it's different from a console. Of course...you can also say that the DS is just a portable Nintendo 64. But, it does have the touch screen, it still plays GBA games, and most of the games being developed still have that handheld feel to them. Just my $0.2
