so my buddy plays paintball right, but we got into a argument if paintball is realy a sport. what makes sports a sport? i dont wnat you just to say it is i want cold hard facts thanks

I believe it is because it falls under all of the definitions of a team sport, but you all have the right to make your own decisions...

An activity?  It's all a matter of opinion.  Some argue that track, for example, is not a sport because all you do is run in a circle.  I have even heard the claim (in a George Carlin routine, I think) that there are only three sports: baseball, football and basketball.  But, by the dictionary definition, a sport is "an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature."  So by that definition, in my opinion, paintball is a sport.

It depends on how you look at it. If you play speedball, you're going to most likely see it as a sport. If you play woods/rec/scenario, you'll likely see it as just a pastime. I, personally, like both. I see tourney as a sport, when you're competing in a circuit, but when I'm just out in the woods, caring less about the outcome of the game than I do about the enjoyment I get from the game itself, that's just a pastime.
