Hi and welcome to Tippmann. It's all up to personal preference. The 98c seems to be the gun of chioce for upgrading into a speedball gun. The A-5 on the other hand is aguably the best woods/senario gun out there. They are both good guns.

I think an A-5 setup like this:

E-Grip, JCS Double Trigger, RVA , 8"Bigshot, Ricochet Hopper, Reversed ASA(tank points away from body under gun), Red Dot Sight, LPK + Reg

would put most 98c's speedball setups to shame!

This is in the wrong forum, but get the 98 custom w/ J&J ceramic barrel and a Revy. That's about the same price as an A-5 but better.
Tippmann 98 Custom
J&J Ceramic 14 in.
VL Revolution w/ X-board
Rufus Dawg Double Trigger
Drop forward
Rocket Cock II
Vert. Adapter
DOP X-Core
DYE Sticky Grips
Dye Invision
