but I'd rather have Doug Spieth get the Super Chromium barrel award program working again. It's been six years and a few thousand useless posts, I think I've earned one. It shouldn't take much of a PM campaign to get Doug to relent and start giving those away again

I remember the old Super Chronium threads.  They would go on for 8 or 9 pages until someone spilled the beans.  Good times...

Err....    the SC program is working fine, Johnny...   I know a lot of people who got theirs.  Hate to say it, but it may be, uh, specific to you.

The Super Chromium barrel is just a myth, nothing more. They claim that the barrel has "a special alloy interior coating made of mercury, teflon, and chromium" to make the best barrel in the world. These same people claim that the only way to get one is to be a platinum member of the forums. Its all BS. First of all, the materials its made of makes no sense. Chromium is used to make chrome, so that would give it a shiny appearance (useless on the interior) and a non-corrosive surface (not ususally a problem in paintball barrels). The teflon could maybe do something to reduce friction, but its quite unlikely. But the mercury is what really disproves this myth. Mercury is a toxic liquid metal. It has no benefits that would make it a viable barrel material (unless it would poison any player that gets hit with a paintball on their bare skin).

And second, if Tippmann really had a barrel like this (which they don't) they wouldn't reserve it for a select few. They would sell, sell, sell and make boatloads of money.

Don't let anyone fool you, the Super Chromium barrel does not exist. You cannot get one. Case closed.

After a night in BigAl's tent, you definatly have earned the barrel.

I'd give the Super Chromium barrel I had to wrestle out of PBMisfit's hands Johnny, but I dont think it is allowed.

Well, there's at least one more intelligent poster on here (Mad Psience). Umm, mercury is a toxic substance. It is used in many scientific thermometers (thats how you spell it) because it is much more accurate than the alcohol thermometers (the ones with the red stuff in them). Most school have alcohol thermometers now because they are safer, and the ones that still have mercury ones are being made to replace them as they are a safety hazard. And merc... damn... you are dumb...

And nobody has yet to explain why mercury would even be in a barrel.. Telling me A) nobody knows enough chemistry/materials science to understand this and B)nobody realizes that their lie has a big gaping hole in it...

Yeah, that's generally frowned upon, you have to earn it one way or another. I'm still working on mine, should be soon
