I think you would be happier with the Ion. Most people that spend a lot of money on their tippmanns end up regretting it.

Ion. By the time you spend a lot of money on your Tippy, you could have a high-end marker that is much better.

I say get the Ion cause they pretty much rip but the 98 will me much more, much more reliable so whatever you favor I'd get that.
My guns name is Mr. Max in remembrance of my dog that got hit by a car: Tippmann A-5
Ricochet R-5
JCS double Trigger
Tippmann E-Grip
Flatline Barrel

Do you have the need for speed?

If your going for speed ion is a really fast marker, and is good for speedball. the 98c u can upgrade but you will have a lot of money invested. But I have a lot of friends with ions and they are messing up really bad. the stock regs really suck. The tippmann is more reliable i mean my mini e orracle autococker messes up my tippmann is always working. I would go with the ion and get a reg and barrel upgrade.

The thing that's ticking me with the Ion is the goofy, waste of a good doller body kits that they are trying to sell to kids.

If you get an Ion please don't waste your money on worthless upgrades.

Rossy, colored body kits.  I could see getting a milsim body kit that has Picatinny rails but flavor of the month body kits are a waste.

After all, people get into the Ion because of the value as well as performance and the value starts going down hill when you start buying parts that don't increase performance.
