Ok I've decided that today was the last time I'm going to use CO2 for paintball. I'm tired of the problems that go along with it. I don't have much knowledge about HPA. So here's some questions:

HPA isn't so sensitive to temp changes correct? When you set your FPS it will generally stay there all day? If you shoot a high rate of BPS will the velocity drop down like CO2?

Can I get a tank that is a "plug n play" for my 98 Custom? Meaning no modifications to my gun? Screw it on and go?

If so what's the HPA tank size equivalent to a 20 oz CO2?

What make tanks should I shop around for?

Rob

1. Velocity doesn't change based on temperature or ROF, but it is still wise to chrono your gun more than once per day.

2. Yes, any high pressure output tank will work. What you are looking for is an 850 psi output.

3. 68/4500 is about equivalent to a 20 oz.

4. Centerflag, Crossfire, and Macdev are my faves.

Hey thanks for the help! I appreciate it.

This leads to more questions from my end. What's the difference as far as how the gun runs between 3000 and 4500 psi tanks?

I see the gauge on the HPA tanks....does that let you know when you should refill it?

I have my 98 set-up with a drop forward and a expansion chamber. I like how it handles and it doesn't leak at all. Can I leave my gun set up like this with a HPA tank for an air source?

The difference between a 3000 and 4500 psi tank is how much pressure they are rated to handle. A 68/4500 will hold a lot more shots in it than a 68/3000. The more pressure in a tank, the more air it holds. A 3000psi tank can only hold 3000psi safely, while a 4500psi can hold 4500psi safely.

The gauge on the tanks tell you how much air is left in the tank. Probably be a good idea to refil when you're around 1000psi.

Having a drop forward isn't a problem at all. However, it's probably recommeneded that you get rid of the expansion chamber when using HPA. It won't do ya any good, and may even decrease the performance of you HPA

The drop forward is good for HPA, especially if you're getting a 4500 psi tank. Ditch the X-Chamber and get a regulator, preferably a Palmer's Stabilizer. The guage tells how much air is left in the tank. Proshops usually charge per 1000 psi, and usually 1-2$ for each 1000. This means you don't have to use the whole tank to get your money's worth, unlike  Co2. HPA tanks will also lose air over time(a matter of weeks.)

no, if you have a tippmann buy a high out-put tank and you can just screw it in and play.

Regulaters and all those other mods u are talking about are just to make it shoot even more consistantly then it already does, its not a must.

Ok I have a gas through grip laying around. What if I changed the X-chamber out for that? Ok?

Now I have just a few more questions on the capacities.

What would the 45 ci 4500 psi be like? A 12 oz CO2?

Thanks again. I appreciate the straight forward advice.
