ok, so im trying to figure this out. ive looked around on the internet and found the e-bolt in some places, but heard it was discontinued. that like tippmann replaced it with the e-trigger. but how could just a trigger replace a bolt. and is there a reason that theres like a 200 doller difference in the price. and which should i buy, i hear people say get a e-bolt, do they mean an e-trigger or what. and i have a 98 custom pro with a halo hopper and j and j ceramic barrel, should i get one of them. I NEED ANSWERS PLEASE!

Get the E-trigger, also known as the E-grip. Way cheaper than most E-bolts you'll find, and just as effective. You can find them at www.countypaintball.com.

The E-Bolt is an electronically controlled pneumatic ram that replaces the stock hammer(rear bolt). The electric trigger switch triggers the ram through gas selenoids on the electronics board. Dip switches on the board let you select mode of fire. With no need to cock the hammer with blowback gasses the operating pressures of the marker can be reduced significantly (140 psi on my 98C with LPK)

The E-Grip or E-Trigger retains the stock hammer and sear. It connects to the sear and trips it as directed by the electronic board. The marker's mechanical trigger is replaced with an electric switch...which activates with about 2 ounces of pull. Since all the mechanical components are retained there is still a lot of mass slamming around inside, but it is an improvement over the stock works. Blow back gas is still required to cock the marker.

The E-Trigger from the Custom Pro will fit the late model 98C. It may be adaptable to earlier 98Cs. There are expensive aftermarket E-Triggers available for the 98C.

The E-Bolt has been discontinued by Tippmann, but that doesn't make it a bad conversion. There are still a lot available from many vendors. One supplier is charging $150 with others going as high as $350. Apollo Paintball (Ebay store) was selling the one to fit the M98, which was easily adaptable to the 98C, for $50. They appear to be sold out.

For a while you could buy the M98 version for $50. But, yep, they are a rip off...almost as bad as an WDP Angel Air HPA cylinder...or some of those over priced Cockers and Angels 4s. Yep, building a reliable and competitive marker for <$400 is beyond the pale (for those of you attending public schools, that means out of bounds)
